After receiving your award letter, wait two to three days and then call the direct deposit phone line. The number is 1-877-838-2778. They can tell you when your money will be deposited and they can even tell you the dollar amount. If you don't have Direct Deposit, they should be able to tell you when a check will be mailed to you. They will first ask you to verify who you are, current mailing address and current phone number Hope this will help. It's good to know when and how much you will get so you can start planning.

My intentions are to help, my advice maybe wrong, be your own advocate and know what is in your C-File and the 38 CFR that governs your disabilities and conditions.

Do your own homework. No one knows the veteran’s symptoms like the veteran. Never Give Up.

I do not give my consent for anyone to view my personal VA records.

and this something requesting banking information?

I just see people always stating that the sometimes the money will be in the bank before you get the award letter. Making me think I missed a step.

Thanks Pete.

You haven't missed anything. If the VA doesn't have your Direct Deposit info they will just do the award without it and mail you a check. Once you get the award letter it will solicit you for Direct Deposit, and you can set it up at anytime. You can send in the info now, but if your claim is that far along I would just wait on the decision to do it.

Heck, when I filled out my first claim I used the on-line VONAPPS claim form and it asked me thereupon what was my banking information, so they had it from the git go.

"It is cold and we have no blankets.

The little children are freezing to death.

My people, some of them, have run away to the hills, and have no blankets, no food; no one knows where they are-perhaps freezing to death.

I want to have time to look for my children and see how many of them I can find.

Maybe I shall find them among the dead.

Hear me, my chiefs! I am tired; my heart is sick and sad.

From where the sun now stands, I will fight no more forever."
