If a Veteran had issues after a war or other traumatic event, it was attributed to alcohol, drugs, or the Veterans own willfull misconduct, or maybe "shell shock" and not PTSD diagnosis.

"Shell Shock", "Combat Fatique", "Battle Fatigue", "Combat Stress Action" and "Post-traumatic Stress Disorder" are all diagnosis of the same thing. They were just named different things during different periods. The VA doesn't (or shouldn't) discriminate between these diagnosis.

The guys coming back from Iraq are a completely new breed. I would bet that a new diagnosis will come before too many years go by.

Petty Officer W,

After you file a claim and provide some information,

submit release of information forms, VA has a Duty to Assist (DTA)

in gathering some information and providing examinations.

But always, it is ultimately the claimants responsibility to be

sure the information and evidence gets to the VA.

jmho,

carlie

Carlie passed away in November 2015 she is missed.
