Berta
I wish I had read this sooner- The first AO Thailand vets award came a few months ago- Guam vets had won I believe 2 AO claims with some on remand. The doctor cannot provide an AO veteran an inservice nexis-as exposure to AO- you need to do that. Study the claim here from James Cripps in Claims Research-he just got the first CONUS award for AO. It will show you the type of evidence you need to have. You MUST prove direct exposure to AO inservice.

Berta
You still must prove your own direct exposure to AO in Guam.
steve&pat
I just redid my guam contamination claim due to direct exposure because I worked on the contaminated tarmack / runway at US NAS AGANA GUAM about 1/2 the time every week setting up jet engines in the TEST CELL a little coral blacktop enclave CUT OUT OF THE JUNGLE on the edge of the tarmack. I used the latest fast letter NEXT DAY DELIVERY== RECIEPT All of these TARMACKS were sprayed to keep the jungle and brush back. Berta
Citation Nr: 0527748 Decision Date: 10/13/05 Archive Date: 10/25/05 DOCKET NO. 02-11 819 ) DATE “His military occupational duties as an aircraft maintenance specialist allegedly required him to work in an air field, the perimeter of which was continuously brown due to herbicide spraying every three months. The veteran also alleges that he recalls seeing storage barrels at the edge of the base, which he now knows housed herbicides. Following discharge, Anderson Air Force base in Guam, where the veteran was stationed, underwent an environmental study, which showed a significant amount of dioxin contamination in the soil and prompted the federal government to order a clean up of the site.” “He has submitted copies of articles indicating that Agent Orange may have been stored and/or used on Guam from 1955 to the late 1960s, which is the time period during which the veteran served there. These articles also reflect that in the 1990s, the Environmental Protection Agency listed Anderson Air Force base as a toxic site with dioxin contaminated soil and ordered clean up of the site. Given this evidence, particularly, the articles reflecting the latter information, and the veteran's testimony, which is credible, the Board accepts that the veteran was exposed to herbicides during his active service in Guam. “ DMII due to AO granted I have the Walter Kaeli decision page one- This is a VARO decision!from a DRO! I have only seen 3-4 AO outside of Nam awards coming from VAROs- We have no access to RO decisions and I forget just how Walter contacted me with his stuff.Maybe he is a member here? I think it was at SVR radio show ???? I did some shows on AO outside of Vietnam. I have other docs from Walter-=never had time to read find and read them- but the decision shows he had doc from House of Reps dated 11-5-1987, 5 separate GAO reports on herbicides, used in Guam, copy of another vet's BVA guam decision and copy from Office of Undersecretary of Defense letter dated Sept 2003. Probably these are the docs he had sent to me-the ones they used as evidence to award- and all could be obtained on the internet I am sure. DMII -AO exposure in Guam.Granted by DRO at Newark VARO. Kurt Priessman (First AO Thailand award-also at regional level) and James Cripps(first recent CONUS award) did extensive research, FOIAS etc whatever it took to prove their exposure to AO. And in these situations (AO outside of Vietnam) there can never be too much evidence.
