nlualum82
I saw the Dr. yesterday about my knees and told him I take 2 Ibuprofen before a shift. He recommended piroxicam. He said it was just stronger ibuprofen. It arrived today and Hey, I know they go overboard on those pharmaceutical warnings, but the paper reads like it's a pill you'd want to slip to someone to you wanted to die an excruciating death! Does anyone have any experience with it? Work well? cause your eyes to explode? I'll appreciate any warnings or reassurances.

HadIt.com Elder john999 Posted October 7, 2009 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted October 7, 2009 It is probably hell on your digestive system. If it is extra-strength ibuprophen you better take it on a full stomache. My gut is pretty iron clad but ibuprophen in the 800mg pill bothers me after a few days. All those pills cause bleeding in your guts even aspirin.
nlualum82
I'm not a diabetic or heart patient - yet. Thanks for the full stomach warning. I was thinking abou taking one if I got a good report in time, but I haven't eaten just lately and I'm about to sleep for tonight's shift. I have a few digestive issues that may be an issuer with this med. I frequently have rectal bleeding. I'm constipated most of the time, and occassionally have diarrhea. I'm a candidate for an ulcer, according to the ER doc who treated me when I had my major panic attack couple years ago. I knew aspirin made linings bleed, stopped taking it for that reason a few years ago. I thought the non-aspirin ones wouldn't.
acesup
I take one a day for the last 10 months, and I have no complaints about it. I have hiatal hernia, GERD, and aspirin makes my stomach bleed, but Piroxicam (Feldene) seems to be fine with my system. It really isn't ibuprofen, it is an NSAID similar to Celebrex. (Which I used to take, but VA doesn't carry it.) Heck, I take a whole heap of meds, and ALL of them have scary possible side effects. I guess we just have to read the info and decide whether or not to try something.
HadIt.com Elder john999 Posted December 12, 2009 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted December 12, 2009 I just found out that tramadol and the SSRI uptake inhibitors like prozac don't mix. All these drugs some of us get may have very bad interactions. The VA is supposed to have a program that points this out to PCP's and any other doctor that prescribes meds.
