American Lake Rehab Center

Rate this question

Question

I am heading for the American Lake Blind rehab center in the next few weeks.

Has anyone been there?

Sounds like a great program, but very little information about what's there, besides the official VA info.

Any info would be helpfull, reassuring.

Thanks....Eric

I have not been there but wanted to bump your question.

Veterans deserve real choice for their health care.

Just got back from American Lake blind rehab. It sounds like there are a bunch of similar clinics around the country.

I was there for 2 weeks, very short stay. The average stay is approx 6 weeks. This is an inpatient program, one on one instruction. The work with all levels of vision loss. All different areas of training, from visual skills to mobility & computer training.

The good = excellent training, caring staff, lots of good equipment to make life easier when you get hom.

The bad = in-patient living isn't very exciting. Being away from home for weeks is also a challenge.

Overall, great experience. I would encourage those with vision loss to go.

Any questions.....drop me a note.....Eric
