Eric_M's Achievements

  1. I was medically retired. Received Tricare, base privileges. Defered military retired pay for VA disablity. I was active duty for approx 18 months. That was approx 20+ years ago. Eric
  2. Need more info on what you are taking. If you are taking insulin (fast acting) you should take a correction dose, ASAP. Test your sugar levels frequently (hourly at a minimum). If this doesn't make sense, then go to the hospital! Just my 2 cents. All diabetics are diffrent.....Eric
  3. Sorry, don't have a list. I would think that any secondary conition due to diabetes would qualify. So long as the doc states that the condition is due to diabetes. That has been my experience....Eric
  4. Just got back from American Lake blind rehab. It sounds like there are a bunch of similar clinics around the country. I was there for 2 weeks, very short stay. The average stay is approx 6 weeks. This is an inpatient program, one on one instruction. The work with all levels of vision loss. All different areas of training, from visual skills to mobility & computer training. The good = excellent training, caring staff, lots of good equipment to make life easier when you get hom. The bad = in-patient living isn't very exciting. Being away from home for weeks is also a challenge. Overall, great experience. I would encourage those with vision loss to go. Any questions.....drop me a note.....Eric
  5. My only comment would be that diabetes effects everyone differently. Your A1C iisn't horrible. Keep asking questions, don't seetle for something that sounds like b.s. Diabetes won't kill you, but the complications will......Eric
  6. Interesting video. Looks like your not to far away. I'm over in Woodburn. Eric
  7. I am heading for the American Lake Blind rehab center in the next few weeks. Has anyone been there? Sounds like a great program, but very little information about what's there, besides the official VA info. Any info would be helpfull, reassuring. Thanks....Eric
  8. Carlie's correct. Some councilers don't read the fine print. My kid qualifiies for DEA, but they were trying to tell her she would also qualify for "yellow ribbon", well you have to be post 9/11 for that. I'm not. But I have also been told she should apply for everything, so you're not the only one confused. Eric
  9. If you are using dsl your configuration should look something like this: DSL modem - plugged into phone jack. wireless router - plugged into DSL mdoem. Make sure everything has lights on = power. Usually they will indicate you are online. Your laptop should look for the wifi signal. It will then walk you through the log-in process. If you've done all of the above, and disabled the firewall, and still no internet, try unplugging it all, then plugging it all back in. If all else fails, yeah call your internet provideer.
  10. go into the control panel and disable the windows firewall.
  11. follow this link: https://iris.va.gov/Scripts/iris.cfg/php.ex...;p_sp=&p_li= complete the form. Don't leave anything out. Sit back and wait. If you posted on here, you can complete an IRIS request. Easy stuff....eric
  12. Yes, ask your PCP, he/she should be able to look in the system. In my neck of the woods, Portland Oregon, the C&P exams are done at a seperate facility. 3 appointments in the same day, now that's a shock. No one seems to think of coordinating anything around here.....Eric
  13. It makes sense that if it's in your file they could use. You just need to prove what you said, you were a kid and thought that is what you had. I would try and track down any pre-military health records / dr. statements. It would be a good argument to say, hey they signed me off as fit for duty, with no issues. Good luck.....Eric
  14. Looks like they are using it as another medium for press releases. 3,900 people are fans, I am guessing mostly VA employees. Says they are also on Twitter, thank goodness. I was realy woried no one at the VA was "tweeting". I looked around for any resources. Not much. Kind of silly.....Eric
