Question

Hello All Hope All Is Well.

I was issued a Tens Unit for my conditions,my question is any of you utilize a Tens unit, for how long and if any side effects? This has only provided temporary relief and sometimes not even that just exacerbates or creates more spasms.

Just go to the central supply which dispenses the unit, b/p machines, braces, corsettes, back supports, blood glucose monitors, etc and ask for new pads. Also a few drops of water on the adhesive sometimes makes them stick more, but not too much as to shock you more. I have used a tens unit since the 1980's. Take bookoo pain meds and patches too.

No prescription needed for these pads.

They just look up your number and put it in the computer. That's it.

Thanks, halos! I just got off the phone with the CBOC, they're going to put an order into the VAMC for me and I should get them through the mail. I've been putting drops of water on them, it definitely helps.

I love my TENS... It doesn't stop the pain for long, but it does for a bit and there's no liver damage, stomach ulcers, blood clots, etc....

Hedgey,

Yes, that's exactly what I do. If I call them, they put a set in the mail. If I go by the pick up window, they check my VA ID and give me some. One set seems to last me about 5-7 days. I only wish I had two TENS units, so I could treat both sides of my lower and upper back at the same time.

Hello All Hope All Is Well.

Try to ask them for a back up or ask your PCP.

Can't hurt to ask?

I have to agree the stick or glue on the pads do not last at all.

Tried to ask for a second unit, but they would not give me one. Looking for another option here...
