HadIt.com Elder LarryJ Posted March 21, 2010 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted March 21, 2010 If your friend is receiving Social Security Disability Insurance payments...........then, yes, his kids can work. HE can't work (well, he can, but it has to be with certain monetary/activity restrictions), but his kids can, because THEY are not claiming to be disabled, but your friend is. HadIt.com Elder LarryJ Posted March 21, 2010 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted March 21, 2010 And, don't forget, that if your friend is 100% disabled (VA 100% permanently and totally disabled), then his kids have benefits coming to them from not just the SSA, but also from the VA (Chapter 35 benefits, schooling, CHAMPVA healthcare, MWR access to military base exchanges for all sorts of things, even haircuts and groceries, etc.). windy city
So if the child recieves a check from SS for being his dependant and under age, the child can work and recieve the check from SS. I hope I am not confusing anybody. If your friend is receiving Social Security Disability Insurance payments...........then, yes, his kids can work. HE can't work (well, he can, but it has to be with certain monetary/activity restrictions), but his kids can, because THEY are not claiming to be disabled, but your friend is.
