Question

Well folks, I finally received my TDIU decision. It was granted back to 2003 and found "Permanent in Nature". I am curious if I need to go to the VA Hospital and get a new ID Card? Also, I live near Dayton, Oh. and have heard that I can go to Wright Patterson AFB to register with DEERS. Is there anything else I should know or do? Thank you everyone for your support over the years.

Great news !

Yes - check your state benefits, perhaps licenses at no-charge, driver's, car tag, property taxes, etc.....

Spend your retro very wisely - don't go wild and start living bove you means - you want to stay comfortable

and not financially stressed out. Put something away for a rainy day.

Do you receive SSA benefits ?

If not and you have enough work credits in you might want to apply for SSD benefits.

Other's will chime in.

Carlie passed away in November 2015 she is missed.

Congrats

My intentions are to help, my advice maybe wrong, be your own advocate and know what is in your C-File and the 38 CFR that governs your disabilities and conditions.

Do your own homework. No one knows the veteran’s symptoms like the veteran. Never Give Up.

I do not give my consent for anyone to view my personal VA records.

Congratulations - well deserved, I'm sure!

Pat

I wonder if I would have all the medical conditions that I have now if I had never joined the Army. I'm pretty sure the answer would probably be no. When I look around and see others my age who were not in the service, most of them look pretty healthy.

Do you think all the employees of the VA really understand that it is ONLY because we served that their positions even exist?

GREAT News!!!!

You might want to check into whether -if you pay real estate taxes- your state or locale has any sort of exception for your SC award.

Gee I mean exemption!

Here in this area we have vets county property tax exemptions for SC disability as well as War Time service.

Widows/widowers of 100% P & T SC vets get an exemption too.

You could check on line with your county offices and even maybe the state you live in has an exemption of this type.

Congrats your VAMC ID Card stays the same and you can get a Military ID Card that allows you some extra benefits

Veterans deserve real choice for their health care.
