Clothing Allowance

HELLO,

MY PRIVATE DOCTOR RECENTLY WROTE A PRESCRIPTION FOR WHEEL CHAIR TWO MONTHS AGO.

I REQUESTED THE CLOTHING ALLOWANCE PERMANENTLY TO BE AWARDED TO ME THROUGH MY LOCAL VARO.

I STILL HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING. ARE OTHER VETERANS HAVING THE SAME DIFFICULTY AS ME IN REGARD TO THIS CLOTHING ALLOWANCE ISSUE.

I HEARD THAT REQUEST DOES NOT GO TO THE VARO BUT TO AND ONLY TO THE ORTHOPEDICS CLINIC @ VA HOSPITAL IN MY AREA?

SHOULD I RE-SUBMIT 21-4138 OR DO I USE A SPECIAL CLOTHING ALLOWANCE REQUEST SLIP?

CAN YOU HELP ME IN THIS MATTER?

Hi i sent the appropriate form to the local va hospital certified mail stapled to that form was my doctors rx for a wheel chair. that was a while back I have not heard from them

so i will call the hospital. If I am correct, on the second filing for a clothing allowance it becomes permanent but dont quote me on that.

also i think i read here if you file after august 1 then you dont get it (clothing allowance) until the following August as the clothing allowance is only paid i believe on 1 August every year i dont know if im correct about that either.

i let you know how i make out once i get in touch with the local va hospital

i got service connecttion for couple of spine issues so i dont think the VA will hassle me on the clothing allowance
