Ssd Plus Va

I have been receiving ssd for lower back disorder since 2008 (100%) have not worked since. My claim for lower back disorder (spine) is in the development stage with VA.

If I am granted my claim how does it affect my SSD?

Do I report my rating to SSD?

What is the advantage of reporting it? What other benefits will I receive?

VA disability and SSDI are totally separate.

You can receive both as one has no effect on the other.

It is SSI that is income limited and would be affected by VA disability money.

There is really no reason you would need to report your VA disability to SSA.

What is your current 30 % SC for ?

There may be medical evidence in your SSA claim that could help support

your issue of "low back disorder" at the VA, so you might want to submit a copy

of this evidence to the VBA along with a ROI to them.

Keep in mind that inorder to grant SSA claims - all that has to be proven is that

you are disabled according to SSA criteria - regardless of how and why you

have the disabling condition/s.

With VBA disability, the condition has to be adjudicated as something due to active duty /

presumptive or secondary to an already SC'd disability.

I would be interested in reading what you were actually granted the SSD for

as I feel surely it's not listed with SSA as merely "low back disorder".

I hope the claim you have with VBA is more specific than "low back disorder" as

that would probably be easier if made more specific.

My 30% is for PTSD. And yes my SSD exam was for "low back disorder" my claim with VA is for DDD, had C&P exam 20 Jan 11 was very favorable, I just found out it is at the rating board as I type. thanks for your reply

The only reason I asked is because all of the SSA claims I have ever read were granted by specific diagnosis/s.

It was odd to me also that SSA didn't write in the Dr. exam specific diagnosis. I've been back to SSA ofice to get a more detailed diagnosis to no avail, I received a ltr (with SSA STAMP) stating I'm receiving SSA for "Lower Back Disorder" .

SInce your SSDI is solely for the back disorder, and provided you get it service connected, FIle an IU claim. You cant work anyway on SSDI.
