Question

Hello everyone, I was informed Monday that my hardship had been approved and that my claim is with a take home rater? They also said that the rater would be reviewing it tonight(6/8/2011), so what does that mean? Is this the person that will rate my claim or someone that will just review it and if they are going to rate/review it tonight how much longer will it take? Sorry for the questions I am just in a really bad spot right now and it doesn't look like it will get any better. If anymore information is needed please ask. thanks

Just can't leave it alone can you?

Well, ok, I'll play.

Yes it was about a 23 yr. old vet and I was trying to help him also. SSDI is there for us when we need it and in my own case it sailed thru because it was real, documented and necessary. It took all of 8 weeks to get benefits and that is much quicker than dealing with the VA.

SSDI may be temporary or permanent on a case by case basis. Not my call, but it is an option when you cannot work and the disabiliy has lasted a year or more. They set it up that way as you have unemployment options to tide you over on temporary periods of unemployment. That is also an option for the vet.

SSDI also allows the veteran to work if he can and still collect benefits. Rules and restrictions apply, but they understand most people want to feel useful. This is also true for VA benefits including 100% schedular.

It is well know that you may collect SSDI and VA sc benefits at the same time. There are many vets who collect up to 100% SC and still work full time. It is only TDIU that says you cannot work.

So the veteran has many helping options he may or may not knew about and it was my intention to bring it to the surface for his consideration.

If you are disabled due to service then you have earned benefits and any preconceived notions it is a handout should be corrected. I think it is noble for men to work if they can, it is also wise to check reality of the situation and deal with it.

Now I get to you and I must confess that I don't see why you were attacking me for a simple question I asked. Even then it was ok as I tried to bow out, but you went ahead and just couldn't leave it alone.

I put you on the defense and you didn't like it either.

Now for your heroic statements from Vietnam . you were a RTO...not a medic...you went into a mine field, but maybe it was because of an officer if he said lets go. Good for you and it was brave and you got hurt because of it. I respect that too. Only you were not the only youngster in Vietnam doing things you would not have normally done but for duty.

I was there too and had multiple tours. I was shot at too and wounded.and had to struggle with the VA as well.

I too have been helping where I can and it makes me feel good.

It is very self serving and I like the results.

So please don't lie to me and just own up that you were criticizing me for whatever reason. Pure and simple.

Now lets just see....

Listen and listen well Hadit does not allow any disrespect or baiting of other Members. If I see any more gotcha remarks you will be in the penalty box.

Veterans deserve real choice for their health care.

I never got an answer for my question? I didn't mean for this to start a fight...All I wanted to know is how long until I get my notification letter from the VA? I was told a rating was done on Monday (June 13th, 2011) and I would receive the letter soon, not sure if it was sent out or if they are going to do something else, another thing is they said it was forwarded to the pay section.

If you have access to Ebenefits, run your benefit letter generator. It usually picks up the changes in payment before you letter can actually get to you.

(I AM NOT A RATER- I work the claims BEFORE they are rated, annotating medical evidence in your records, VA and Legal documents,  and DA/DD forms- basically a paralegal/vso/etc except that I also evaluate your records based on Caluza and try to justify and schedule the exams that you go to based on whether or not your records have enough in them to warrant those)

Sorry,

No one here can answer that question.

No one here speaks for the VA.
