I was recently turned down for SSD, I have a lawyer and I want to know how long does it usaully take to get awarded after you are orginally turned down? I know I will eventually get it I am wondering how long does it usaully take. I am 100% sc from the VA...

Sorry to hear you were turned down, but that's the rule rather than the exception.

SSDI can easily take up to 2 years, so it's good to prepare financially for that kind of time frame.

What were you denied on SSI or SSDI.

What exactly is stated to support their denial ?

It is not unusual for original SSI/SSDI claims to be denied,

it is usual for applicants to have to appeal.

I was denied SSD and the reason for the denial is based on it specifically stated that I don't meet their definition of disabled outlined in/on there disability list. It is amazing how that can be denied yet I am seeing a pain managment specialist and he states that I can nolonger work. Now for the hard part like anything else, the Fight is just beginning. I believe 2/3 are denied first go round and 87% at next (reconsideration) level. Disability Guide site

You win at the ALJ level if you have the right evidence.
