Reimbursement?

Rate this question

Question

Can anyone tell me how I would get my reimbursement for Adaptive Equipment? Would it come in the form of a check directly to me or do the deposit it in my bank account? How long does it take after all the paper has been completed and signed by me and prosthetics agent?

I was told 6-8 weeks.

FWIW, I understand that the Automotive Adaptive Equipment reimbursement program has been consolidated to several specific VA Regional Offices.

That is, although the local Prosthetics Department has approved a 1394, it is not processed by your friendly neighborhood VARO but sent to a spayshul VARO. My guess is that whatever VARO does the Specially Adapted Housing Program (SAH) for your area also does the automobile adaptive program. Remember, that's just a guess.

Why doncha call the Prosthetics Department at your VAMC and ask them where the 1394 was sent? In my case, the rep told me that it was mailed directly to XOXOXOXOX instead of going to the local VARO and then transferred to XOXOXOXOX.

Still no reimbursement. Does anyone know how long it takes after everything has been approve and submitted?

The reinbursement for the auto adaptive euipment will go to your mailing address as a US Government Check. Most of my checks come from an Austin Texas office, the most recent one came from Kansas city Missouri , and my checks all have printed

on them VA EDU, so I suspect the checks are coming from the same office that does the checks for va education. ( I keep a photo copy of all my checks to keep up with what was and was not paid)

It takes anywere from 2-3 months for the finance people to process the payment , the Prosthetics Department have a very limited time period to complete and verify eligibility, most of the hold up is at the offcie that prints the checks.
