Going To School And Winning Ssdi

Question

FYI, Got this response from a SSDI lawyer.

Through our experience of helping individuals with disabilities secure SSDI benefits, we are very knowledgeable about the claim process and eligibility. One of the primary requirements is that you must have a physical and/or mental condition that has lasted or is expected to last at least 12 months. In general, you must be disabled from any and all occupations, not performing any significant work activity, and have the support of your doctors. The fact that you still are working or going to school greatly inhibits your chances for securing an SSDI award. If your doctor has allowed you to continue working and you are performing the responsibilities associated with your position or even taking classes, the Social Security Administration likely will view your condition as non-severe and deny you SSDI benefits.

If you have SSDI they will help you go to school they call it rehab. Blanket statements to begin a post should include either the laws or regs or a link to give members a chance to check out your opinion. I do agree with you that going to school is an indication that you will become employable but not that it will happen.

According to SS going to school is rehab it does not mean that you can work. The real world may use it against you. I am not advising anyone to go to school while they are waiting for an answer to their claim.
