You can file now but remember unemployability is not the same as being unemployed. If you quit I'd be sure that it stated in my letter of resignation that I was leaving due to the medical problems I am having w/my SC conditions/disabilities. jmo

i have parkinson's disease and i continued to work as long as i could but i was absent from work quite a bit and it got to the point i couldn't work the hours needed to do my job but i didn't quit my job. the personnel office gave me a letter stating i could no longer work the hours needed to do my job because of my disability and i was laided off from my job. i just received iu. also, i made $23,000 that year. i would advise you not to quit but get a letter from your employer that you are being let go because of your disability. i believe you can file now, since your 80%. but, don't quit without getting a letter similar to mine.
