richjh
I am currently SMC M1/2 and I was just awarded, entitlement to service connection for neurogenic bowel and bladder, as secondary to treatment for service-connected post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). My question is can one go straight to R1 or do you need to be rated O/P before you can be given an R1 rating? Rich
Moderator broncovet Posted September 17, 2012 Moderator Share Posted September 17, 2012 Im no expert on SMC, but you can read this and decide. Its from the NVLSP: http://www.purpleheart.org/ServiceProgram/Training2010/Tuesday%20Training%20Outline%20NVLSP.pdf or try http://www.purpleheart.org/ServiceProgram/Training2010/15-%20Special%20Monthly%20Comp%20Handout,%20NVLSP.pdf
Berta
And to add... I put a BVA case regarding R-1 ,R-2 in this older post: It can get confusing. The BVA decisions on this issue contain a wealth of info as to how they view these high level SMC claims. I think I noted in that link, better add here in case I forgot to, that the building block levels of SMC do not regard the SMC “S” award. In other words SMC “S”, (and not SMC “K” or SMC “Q” the newer SMC “T”) is not a 'building block' form of the higher levels of SMC .
