Question

I put in a FDC back on 1/2/13 for ED due to medication secondary to PTSD and was awarded 0% and SMC-K award. My question is do they go back to the time I started the meds or due they use the date I claimed it. Back in April of 12 they were having me tested for low tes and what not and gave me boner pills which did not work got me sick then they changed to another pill which helped. Due they go back and check these notes or did I have to tell them??????? Any comment would help for retro.

The award will be the date the claim was filed or the date of actual diagnosis (in the event that your claim was filed without a diagnosis). Your date of claim will not necessarilly be the date "you filled" if there was a medical report (sent to VA) that indicated you have a condition that was caused by service or by a service connected condition. That report can constitute an informal claim.

When I filed for ED, I sent in a claim and the paper from the drug manufacturer, highlited with the side effects (ED). No C&P and awarded SMC-K.
