0 Rx7mike
What the heck - since when does a diagnosis and SC for Bi-polar need to meet the criteria for having a significant event, trauma or combat ? ? ? Based on DSM-IV. Veteran currently meets DSM-IV diagnostic criteria for Bipolar I Disorder, Most Recent Episode Depressed, Chronic. It is not possible at this time to conclude that the veteran's current bipolar disorders diagnosis is related to his military experience, as the veteran described the onset of symptoms to begin within his first year of service, unrelated to any significant events, trauma, nor combat. Where you by any chance medically retired for this or did you just get out? My bipolar was missdiagnossed for years 9Mainly personality disorder dissasotiative dissorder ect)untill it was actually give the status Bipolar 2 a year before i was medically retired. Now the VA is saying its Bipolor 1 maybe personality disorder again. At least its assotiated in the Bipolar Catagory as it wouldnt gain anything if diagnosed as many others are overlooked by the va as repairable. If you are really unsatisfied you can appeal the discision when you get it or you can fight. Pay to have a good Dr fill out http://www.benefits.va.gov/compensation/dbq_FAQs.asp its a DBQ locate the one for mental health (other than PTSD) it should carry a much weight it may not though. Did you go to a VMAC to have your C&P done or was it by a Civilian? he examiner is going to weigh in everything not just the C&P examiners write up. its like a template for what he will need to look further into and honestly they may not even go with the c&P recommendation the best thing you have on your side no matter wat is other vets who care and can help and APPEAL BVA ect so keep in the fight and hunker down it is gonna be a long one. and GOOD LUCK. 0 Rx7mike
claim was kicked back to gathering evidence from prep for dec monday. The VA has scheduled me for another mental C&P. I'm extra nervous That is a good ting you know what to expect and they didnt like the dr write up, or the examiner was comprimised, or a few other reasons, either way its like bingo you get an extra crack at ir. I don't think it is a great C&P, but the examiner (even incorrectly stating it manifested in first year) still indicates it started in service. I don't know very many people who will look back at
