Co Pay?

Rate this question

Question

The VA diagnosed me with PTSD and scheduled Counseling. Now I find out I am being charged a co-pay for each visit.

The total I owe now is over $120.00 that is an unexpected expense. Not much to many people but, a budget breaker for me.

I sent a Secure Message on Myhealthyevet to my Phsyc and asked her to please Service Connect me 'Officially' so that these charges go away.

Is that the right approach?

I am waiting for my PTSD claim now, so all this MAY go away at that point. I expect to hear within a month as my Claim is at the Rating Phase now at the RO.

You can go to the finance department or contact them and request that the co-pays be waived.

She has no authority to do this - it requires a rating decision to SC your PTSD or a SC percentage of 50% or higher to

negate co-pays.

Is that the right approach?

No, that is not the correct approach - contact the finance dept - also let them know you have a claim issue in process for SC of PTSD.

Don't count on any timeline - it happens when it happens.

jmho.

Carlie you are the best...not what I wanted to hear but, the truth is what I needed.

It only took a week to go from Prep for Decision to Pending Decision. I hope it continues to move forward at this rate.

Well - I sure hope for you and yours that it continues to do the

boot-scoot-boogie, right on down to the . . .

show me the money and additional benefits section :-)

I am not sure but, it may depend on your percentage and income etc. I don't pay any co-pay for SC Sinusitis related issues. That is why I asked about SC for PTSD. Still not sure if there will be a copay when I get granted SC. Carlie said it takes 50% rating to negate all co-pays.

I think the co-pays are waived if you are SC for the treatment you recieve.
