C&p Exam Team

Question

Does the medical person doing the exam have the exam reviewed by the C & P unit director prior to it being submitted to the VARO? I remember in old days, there was a senior doctor in charge of this team and he/she had to sign off on each exam. Is this still being done?

Hiya Vern,

I know that regardless of the VAMC clinic, if I see a resident or a nurse practitioner, they have to have their records signed off by an attending physician. My last C&P doc was probably practicing medicine before I was born, so I assume they knew their stuff. I went back and checked my record and I didn't see any secondary approvals. I guess it might depend on the 'level' of the examiner or the policies of your VAMC. My last C&O exam was at the Birmingham VAMC. If you let us know where you had your exam, someone who goes there might be able to share their experiences with you.

At this point prefer not to say due to CUE that was filed. The C & P examiner was an elderly doctor, family practice, not a cardiology or allergy doctor.
