0 HadIt.com Elder Buck52 Posted March 27, 2016 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted March 27, 2016 It just makes it harder to get to 100% when you have a bunch of combined ratings that don't add up to 100% example if a veteran is rated 80% for combined ratings he would then need additional rating of another 90% to reach 98% rounded off to the 100% and then they use the SMC TABLE CHART to see if you qualify for the SMC So when you can reach 160 & plus then you qualify for SMC but your still consider 100%..if you have a rating at say 270% your still just rated the 100% although the higher rating the more benefits you qualify for. 0 FormerMember
My Uncle Jay caught a Jap machinegun round through his ankle and it made it difficult to walk on. He got 20% from his discharge in 48. They had to amputate it in 64 and gave him a K on top for loss of use of one foot. He didn't get 100% until 82 for his PTSD. SMC K doesn't require being above any certain percentage. You could have loss of use of one eye and get K even if nothing else was wrong with you.

Get one of those new 21-526 e-z electronic forms and fill it out and print. Next, find the reason you're due the SMC- K and the medical evidence to prove it. Figure out what effective date it is due
