0 HadIt.com Elder Chuck75 Posted April 14, 2015 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted April 14, 2015 (edited) Good article!! I would never go in the military, these days, the way veterans are treated, nowadays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! period. jmo pr It's nothing new! When I came back from Vietnam in '68, things were about the same. It took me a year to find a decent job, the VA denied (with no details, naturally!) a claim based upon in service injury and surgery, and I had a heck of a time getting the VA to pay GI bill education expenses. The VA could not even keep an accurate address, and persisted in sending things to obviously mistyped ones, or old addresses. At one point, It got so bad that I ended up going to the Chicago VARO and getting a hand signed copy of an education entitlement certificate. I ended up having to get corrective surgery to "clean up" the results of the in service surgery. Thankfully, by that time, I had medical insurance, and both the hospital and the operating specialist surgeon waved out of pocket/co-pay. It turned out that the hospital was the one I had been born at, and the specialist and his father had treated three generations of my family. I found out later that had I not had insurance coverage, and because of the military service relationship, plus the sorry state of the VA, they might have waived the entire cost, and gotten the state and the federal government to pay instead. Things were a lot different then. Edited April 14, 2015 by Chuck75
