More than 120 previously unpublished investigations by the Veterans Affairs Department's inspector general, dating as far back as 2006, reveal problems at VA medical centers nationwide ranging from medical malpractice and patient safety concerns to mismanagement, infighting and corruption.

"A veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard, or reserve - is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to The 'United States of America', for an amount of 'up to and including my life."

So much for transparency. The only way to get back veterans and the public trust is to have transparency...and when stories like this come out, it erodes the trust even more...

  • 2 weeks later...

I have been wondering lately if VARO directors get bonuses on top of their $150+ per year salaries...It would be very interesting to know......And yes, it has aroused my curiosity because I have heard nothing from my VARO since they got my decision back for my Granted CUE...Seems very weird that it takes this long for them to respond to any inquiries as well..

Yes, they get bonuses. Count on it. Those bonuses were published, here, maybe a year or two ago. Maybe someone else can post it, but if you are diligent, maybe you can look up how much your director got.

You can try, here, to find your RO directors pay and bonuses:

http://www.fedsmith.com/2013/04/29/locating-the-salary-of-an-individual-federal-employee/

I checked my RO director. In 2014 (he was not the director then, I dont think) he made $161, 471 for 2014, but did NOT get a bonus in 2014. If you know your directors name, you can type it in and see.
