I think the comments in the linked article say it all. Due to the restriction on discussing politics or bashing politicians on this site, I'll say no more.

you notice how they always want to mess with veterans benefits, but their benefits

last forever after two years of service in congress. A vet does 20 years in service

and got to fight everyday for the same benefits.

Well, it just like them not giving us raises on AD and not being able to get budgets done, furloughing, etc, but their raises always go thru, no problem. Their priority seems to be their own pocketbooks, not doing a good job, nor SERVING, which is what they are supposed to do. Thus, the title of public servant. Many times, we were put in danger unnecessarily, flying in broad daylight over known threats to move used tires or pallets of water around. Or landing in contested areas, dropping off nothing and picking up nothing, just because they put it on the schedule. Sure would have been nice not to do my job on some of those days, that's for sure! Nothing like watching smoke trails spiral up at you and hoping the flares do their job and it's an older model MANPAD. But, our job was also to serve, and we did. Is it so much to ask that they do the same when their biggest threat is getting ink on their sleeve cuffs?
