Question

My husband filed a Form 9 after his CUE appeal was denied at the regional office. Now our understanding is that his case is transferred to the BVA in Washington, DC. Is there any way to find out how long it takes the regional office to send the appeal to the BVA in DC? And once it reaches DC, how long does a decision take at that level? Will the BVA contact him acknowledging receipt of his appeal? I ask this because the VA regional office "lost" his original appeal for about 8 months.

E benefits says it's down till September 2015, so there seems to be no way to check on anything, for what its worth.

The c-file usually stays at the RO, until the BVA calls for it. Claims headed to the BVA usually take a minimum of 2yrs to process and can take up to 4yrs. Frequently, the BVA remands the claim(s) back to the RO for further development. The total process can take 3-5yrs. Hang in there!!

Hmm-

Well, you can "call Peggy" to start with. If the case has actually made it to the BVA "Peggy" should be able to give you a "Docket Number".

The BVA does have a customer service number - 800 923 8387 They might be able to tell you something.
