Hey my Hadit Family!

Ok... this is first post on here. I have been trying to get my VA benefits now going on 10 years now....I applied in 2004, 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2014 and was denied on all of them....I was missing one piece of paper and that was the SC paper. So I went back to my private doctor and he signed the paper for me and I submitted September 2014. So I waited, and waited, and waited and finally had a C&P done in May 6, 2015 and from that time to June 1st I was awarded 60% and back pay of 9K. I claimed back, wrist and asthma. I got asthma 30%, back 20% and wrist 10%. I'm so grateful for this website and the vets that are on here that are posting their information on how to go by doing business with the VA. Since that time I have went to the VA Hospital twice to get treated from asthma. I talked to a guy that was there and he (who's at 100%) told me to reopen my claim for asthma dated back to 2004 since that is my highest percentage. I would like to know if that's a good ideal? I would appreciate any feedback. Also thanks for taking the time to read my very first post. Semper Fi!!

Congrats. on your win.  Unless you have medical evidence/documentation that your asthma warrants service connection back in 2004, I do not see how this will help.  According to your post you did not get a medical opinion until 2014.

"I was missing one piece of paper and that was the SC paper".  What was this evidence?  If it was a medical opinion or DBQ this will be the date VA has to go by because this is the date you gave VA the information they needed to service connect your conditions.  If you found missing military/hospital records then that is a different situation.

Pete992,

Yes I submitted all that back in 2004. I got treatments in the Corps and got meds also(95-99). Everything from my PFT's(Pulmonary Function Test) in the Corps to all my civilian records for asthma. I was thinking maybe I should just do it and if it come out in my favor good if not I tried. Thanks pete996 for the quick response and I will keep you guys posted on the outcome and I will always appreciate any feedback.
