This maybe way off topic and it may not even relate to your situation at all but it make sense to be polite as possible when dealing with VA.  I have met/spoken to some VA employees that are very vindictive and down right out not trustworthy.  I would not put anything past them.  Keep in mind that there are people out there that think VA disability compensation is free money. I even had one VA employee actually say that he wished he got the money that I was getting.  I politely told him that he could get the money if he had my disabilities or any disability that warrants compensation.  Sorry that you are going through this and hope they fix the problem as soon as possible.

Wow!  That's crazy!  Two separate people....two separate periods of service and two separate Social Security numbers and dates of birth....yet, they make that mistake.  It would be a drag to be named John Smith and have to deal with the VA I would imagine.

Thanks to both you and your father for your service though!

A few weeks ago the VARO that I have pending claim with, sent a letter to my husband ( dead for over 20 years) and said he had to reply to the letter within 30 days.

I sent an IRIS complaint and told them he does not have access to a PC or fax to reply to the letter , as he is buried in the local National Cemetery.

They have certainly apologized for the letter since, but it concerns me., after being a VA claimant myself for 20 years, since he died, how anything like that can happen.

I wish he could open a claim from the grave because they owe him more than they owe me (that is if they had not killed him with piss poor VA health care,)

Osceola's response to his people, the Seminoles, was

simply "They(the US Army)have guns, but so do we."

Sameo to us -They (VA) have 38 CFR ,38 USC, and M21-1- but so do we.

Social Security did the same thing to my Father in Law and drained his bank account of over 9000. It took almost 8 months to get it straightened out.

Veterans deserve real choice for their health care.
