Question

I applied for an increase for my shoulder which I had to have shoulder surgery due to a tear, I was at a 10% rating. On ebenefits under Disability, this is what I saw

right shoulder tendonitis (dominant) 100% Service Connected   01/13/2016

My AB8 verification letter states the following

Net Amount Paid $3,068.90
Effective Date April 1, 2016
Combined Evaluation 100 percent

My questions is, Will I get retro pay for Feb and March?

Welcome to Hadit!

Is this a temporary rating due to surgery?

Based on what you posted ebenefits said, no you wont get retro for Feb. and March.   Of course, ebenefits is unreliable.

However, your benefits start the first day of the month FOLLOWING the effective date.  This means the first month you get paid for is May 1, 2016, based on what you posted.

I think Broncovet may be right . The odd question is that you have two effective dates listed, which is why I asked. Normally one does not receive a 100% rating for a shoulder issue unless it is surgical convalescence. Well, on the bright side, you did the right thing by filing for it.

I had surgery to my ankle back in June 2015 and was awarded 100% temporary disability from June to October 2015 and SMC House Bound for June to October 2015 as well.  It depends on what your doctor put in his/her notes as to your "down time" for recovery from surgery.

When was your shoulder surgery?

Your 100% will go back to original 10% after the doctor has released you from care.  You might even get a re-evaluation to determine if you should remain at 10%, go up or go down based on the outcome of the surgery.
