Numbers at the end of a Diagnosis ?

Anyone know what the numbers mean at the end of a diagnosis ? in medical progress notes off my healthevet.

I remember j basser and jereal cook talked about this  a few years ago on the hadit radio show  but I forget.

1,Chronic PTSD (ICD) 10CM  F.43.12

2, PTSD (SCT)313182004

They have these numbers on All diagnoses at the end , but the numbers are different on each diagnosis?

It must be a code for insurance purposes or a way to Identify them?

I have 12 more diagnosis in there  Most of my recent diagnosis is there but my Diagnosis for loss of hearing is not in there  S.C. IN 2002 For hearing loss and tinnitus,  neither one of those is in myhealthevet medical notes?

but is listed in Ebenefits under EOB  s.c dates and where occured. all my S,C, Conditions is in  e benefits  but not in my healthevet notes.

Are they suppose to be in there? however all the VA Dr do list all my S.C. Conditions and where occured and the % in myhealthevet notes.

Maybe they didn't have my healthevet back in 2002? Back then I always got my medical notes/records from the RELEASE OF MEDICAL RECORDS in the basement of my VAMC.

The first is a code for PTSD.  Specifically, it says:

Quote

2018 ICD-10-CM Diagnosis Code F43.12

 us.png

Post-traumatic stress disorder, chronic

  • 2016 2017 2018 Billable/Specific Code
  • F43.12 is a billable/specific ICD-10-CM code that can be used to indicate a diagnosis for reimbursement purposes.
  • The 2018 edition of ICD-10-CM F43.12 became effective on October 1, 2017.
  • This is the American ICD-10-CM version of F43.12 - other international versions of ICD-10 F43.12 may differ.

The following code(s) above F43.12 contain annotation back-references

that may be applicable to F43.12:
  • F01-F99

     Mental, Behavioral and Neurodevelopmental disorders
  • F43.1

     Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

Approximate Synonyms

  • Chronic post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Chronic posttraumatic stress disorder
  • Posttraumatic stress disorder, chronic

ICD-10-CM F43.12 is grouped within Diagnostic Related Group(s) (MS-DRG v35.0):

  • 882 Neuroses except depressive

Convert F43.12 to ICD-9-CM

I guess they give diseases a number, not just a name.  There is probably a Diagnostic code, which goes with your benefits.

Frankly, I dont worry about diagnostic codes UNLESS you are denied, or maybe you are seeking an increase.

Berta has pointed out that it can be CUE if VA enters an incorrect DC.
