0 Moderator broncovet Posted November 14, 2018 Moderator Share Posted November 14, 2018 The rating for OSA, if service connected, and if you are on a cpap is 50 percent. To get SC for sleep apnea, you will need all 3 caluza elements, as usual. The exception to this is getting SC as a secondary. In that case, you need only 2 caluza elements: a Diagnosis of osa (new regs say that the doctor has to say that a cpap is "medically necessary"), and a nexus, or link between your OSA and the primary condition. OSA has been connected to (secondary to) PTSD. But you will have to fight for that. What to do? Check to see if you meet the caluza elements, then apply. Buddy letters can sometimes provide caluza element 2, "In service event or aggravation". Example: If your buddies can honestly say that you snored loudly, in service, this can demonstrate you had OSA in service. There are also other symptoms such as if you fell asleep at inappropriate times. YOur buddies are competent to opine on simple, non medical things, such as whether you snored or whether you fell asleep. They cant diagnose OSA, nor can they provide a nexus. 0 Moderator brokensoldier244th Posted November 14, 2018 Moderator Share Posted November 14, 2018 As an OSA person, I guess, from the other side, congratulations. Have you lost weight or anything, or was yours diagnosed as central? Id much rather not have it, not have to wear a machine, not have to unhook my Darth Vader mask to be with my wife, or have to travel with it, or fly with it, etc, etc, than have the benefit amount of it.
