Question

Can someone please explain to me what exactly this means? When I first read it I was super happy because I read GRANTED, then right after DENIED.... What does new ad material evidence to reopen claim even mean? Please help!!!!

The Board made a decision on your appeal

The Board of Veterans’ Appeals sent you a decision on your appeal. Here’s an overview:

Granted

The judge granted the following issue:

  • New and material evidence to reopen claim for service connection, Limitation of leg motion (flexion)

If this decision changes your disability rating or your eligibility for VA benefits, you should see this change made in 1 to 2 months.

Denied

The judge denied the following issue:

  • Service connection, Limitation of leg motion (flexion)

LauraB That's the spirit! Don't give up. If you believe you are right, strengthen your evidence and resubmit. Wait for the decision letter to see what the reasons are. If you need help, get more evidence  thru a IMO form a expert doctor who understands what the VA process is; or a lawyer if it is a legal issue. But keep at it. You don't lose until you quit trying!

Thank you! It is a medical evidence issue so I am doing my research on experienced doctors who understand the VA and their issues. I will never give up, it just gets discouraging at times.

After you get the letter, you can post parts of it (redact personal info) and we can advise on how best to appeal.  A big portion is to try to figure out if the VA had all your evidence.  Sometimes they have it and dont read it, other times they dont have it.  To know how to advise you, there are seveal appeal routes to go, depending upon whether or not you need to submit new and relevant evidence.  (HLR..no new evidence)  (SCL  new evidence).
