0 Moderator broncovet Posted May 12, 2020 Moderator Share Posted May 12, 2020 Well, I will tell you how "I stumbled upon" how to find out the answer to this very good question. Yes, there may be a Vet here on hadit who just happened to leave near Virginia beach and go to a VA doc near there for Ortho. But its not real likely. Instead, strike up a conversation with Veterans next time you are in a waiting room. Just ask em. "What do you think of Doctor (Smith)?" "Oh, get doc Johnson if you can. She will treat you great..and give you a nexus." While I just happened to get my real good VA doc, others have not. You kind of figure it out eventually. My VA doc is blind...and he has done reasearch that links mdd to hearing loss. So, he had no problem providing a nexus linking my hearing loss with depression. (secondary). Other docs, less familiar with the hearing loss-depression link did not provide a favorable nexus.
0 Oceanbound
Yup. You will have to do the dirty work of calling orthopedic doctors and or Physiatrist offices and ask them. When you find one come back and let us know.

Thank you in advance CALL AROUND IN YOUR AREA FOR THESE DR'S JUST BE OPEN AND HONEST WITH THEM ITS HARD TO TALK TO A Dr if you call so you need to ask the front office and let them know what you want if there veteran friendly they will help you. example I called a Dr's office and they were very nice I told them what I needed the girl said hold on and I will go back and ask the Dr if he can do this she did and set me up an appointment with this Dr..I went to see him and discuss with him what all I need from him a letter after he examine me and give his professional opinion on what I ask him to do..he did I submitted his letter and won my claim. it always pays to be up front with these Dr and office personal and just explain what you need. if there veteran friendly they will do all they can to help you...my letter cost me around 200.00 bucks its hard to get in with a Dr office that only takes insurance, so I paid this with a credit card. call around until you find a veteran friendly Dr I called about 8 different Dr offices before I found this place. I've did this 3 times with three different conditions, and it worked out. specialist are the best ones to get help from depending on your condition but a specialist can write a very good detailed letter. a regular MD is ok too. 0 Narose
I don’t know the specifics of your situation, but Dr. Wilhelm at the Hampton VA is an excellent ortho doc and will establish a diagnosis and nexus if possible. His notes of record are very detailed and thorough as well, so he doesn’t leave much room for outside interpretation. If the VA Medical center isn’t an option for you then I have heard good things about Atlantic Orthopaedic in the Hilltop area of VB.
