Question

If a veteran receives 100% tdiu and starts work to see if they can handle it but they can't will VA reduce your percentage. I worked for 4 months but had to quit do to the safety of others and myself because of PTSD and I have to take a annually questionnaire. Will my benefits be reduced even tho I can't handle work?

Big A$$ NOOOOO!

When your IU, earning more than the SGI $12,400 for more than (12) consecutive months of uninterrupted employment, could trigger a Proposed Reduction Letter. The VA required 21-2140 IU Anniversary Date Income Verification Letter would be the catalyst for the Reduction Proposal.

Keep in mind the VA's view of "Sheltered Income," "Self-employment Income," and "Special Accommodation provided Income."

If you worked 11 months with no interruptions, earned $90+K but had to stop working (in or at the end of the 11th month)  due strictly to your SC's, you wouldn't necessarily receive a VA Notice of "Intent to Reduce." You didn't work the (Continous 12 uninterrupted Months.) However, you would probably get a notice of some sort of Re-Exam to determine if you're now capable of Sedentary work.
