PTSD and Federal Law Enforcement

Rate this question

bigGUNs82

Question

Hi, brand new member here.

I have recently been honorably discharged from the military and have applied to several federal law enforcement agencies.

I am VA disabled for PTSD. Will this disqualify me from federal LE service? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

bigGUNs82 not meaning to hi-jack your post  but while were on this subject, I wanted to ask this question bout my grand son.

My grand son is in  US Air Force ROTC in High School  he has made Second Lieutenant, and were all very proud of him  he wants to Join after High School.

How ever when he was young his mother abused him  she was sick and a R.N. She was accused of munch housing by proxy  that's when a parent try's to hurt herown child for no reason & in the medical field  she would give him Insulin injections and he not need it. ect,,ect,,and take him to specialist to see what was wrong with him?

Never the less this cause my son and her to divorce and my son won full custody...ok what all that did was make me grand son have temper fits and be destructive and break things and have high anxiety & suicide thoughts  ect,,the whole 9 yards...and  he was seen by a psychiatrist and was diagnosed with PTSD probably 70% if he was a veteran .

Ok now the Air Force Recruiter  has told him the Air Force won't accept him??  although he has went to counseling and finished 3 years of it but he still has to take PTSD Med to help control his Anxiety.

Anybody know if this will prevent him in Joining  the U.S. Air force?

Buck,

I am not sure I can answer your question, but from what I know is that the Air Force is the most discriminating when it comes to recruits.  Higher entry scores and the like.  I was Army and Army National Guard.

As for ease of entry, I would rank them as Army, Navy and then Air Force and maybe Coast Guard.  I leave out Marines, because it takes a special kind of person to be a Marine from my experience working with them and seeing them on the battle field.  I admire them and look up to them but would not have wanted to be one.

That said, I would talk to a Army recruiter and start from there to get a feel.  The Air Force can take the pick of the crop and will always take the slam dunks, not someone they may have to do some leg work to get in.

Good luck,

Hamslice

Thanks Ham I agree

It's just that he has his Heart set on Joining the Air Force, no problems with his entry exam, he is the top student in his ROTC Program at school, I taught him how to spit-shine his military dress shoes and he keeps them mirror ready,  he just shines when they have drill practices & he gets to wear his dress uniform or his Fatigues and Boots to school, he is the type that probably be no good in infantry  but  logistic's is what he would be good at...he wants to become an officer &  I hate to say it but he don't have much common sense  (hey but what officer's do) Lol.... but he is very intelligent in Books.

My other older grandson (Army) his older brother is a combat medic just got red alert to be deployed for Iraq & Afghanistan.
