hypertension Project 112 And Shad Vets
email From Colonel Dan and also Army Times: Vets blast SHAD study Survey left out many sailors involved in chemical weapons tests, group says By Chris Amos - Staff writer Posted : Thursday Jul 5, 2007 6:29:56 EDT http://www.navytimes.com/news/2007/07/navy...dtests_070704w/ A group of Navy veterans says that findings from a study of the health effects of at-sea biological and chemical weapons testing on thousands of sailors 40 years ago are flawed because the study ignored those with the highest levels of exposure. The $3 million study, paid for by the Department of Veterans Affairs but conducted by the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy, took f…

question: If a patient ask me to fill a form out for him in order to obtain a drivers license, or obtain SSN or VA benefits am I required to do this. ptsd For All You Smokers
My husband's claim for lung cancer was NOT based on trying to establish a seconday connection from nicotine dependence developed in service. It is based on asbestos exposure and the fact the cancer began in the service. However, as he had been a smoker - I have kept an eye on the way the Va handles the cases for smokers. Specifically how they are applying the regulation where they can't grant service connection as secondary to smoking, but can grant service connection for conditions that were caused (in whole or part) by smoking on some OTHER basis - for example in service occurance or asbestos exposure. (i.e. so they can NOT deny a claim simply because you smoked - t…

Date Of Claim
Good Morning All, I hope someone on this site can guide me on the following situation. I went to VSO in Aug 2006 to file a claim, filled out the paperwork and submitted evidence. I continually contacted them VA said they never received any claim I was unable to get a answer as to why they never sent my claim to the VA they kept on telling me I needed to submit a form correcting the spelling of my name. I told them this was done in 1969 when I was out of the service. I submitted the corrected copy to them with the orginial claim. They made me file again for the change. I received a notice from the Army that the correction was previously made in 1969 All thi…

38 Usc 5110 (g)
Hi, everyone. Does anyone know if this regulation applies to prostate cancer cases related to Agent Orange? I applied for prostate cancer disability benefits approximately five months after my prostate cancer surgery. I was approved for disability, but the effective date was the date VA received the claim. I assumed the effective date would be the date of the cancer diagnosis or the surgery. Does anyone believe 5110 (g) could apply in my case? Section 5110 (g) states that it "authorizes awards retroactive for as much as one year from date of receipt of claims when awards are made 'pursuant to any Act or administrative issue" . I appreciate any help on this particular reg…

Wife Needs Cancer Surgery
I was notified today that my wife a retired 1SG and 60% sc has breast cancer and will have to undergo surgery. We have TriCare Prime and are both employed. Both of us will turn 60 this year. Because of my recent triple bypass surgery her leave hours are almost disminished. Will VA offer any assistance such as 100% disability after the operation for a number of months? She does not have any service connection for breast cancer however she has had several cysts removed while in the service. She retired with 20 years in Jan 2003. I was told by my SO at VFW that I will most likely be rated 100% after his reading of my recent C&P. I don't expect that to be of…

Just Finished C&p
I just completed my C&P for a SC increase. The doctor(yes an actual doctor) was very thorough. She went down the list asking how my most recent surgery (2-level fusion 3/15/07) affected my daily life due to pain and motion limitations. She measured me at <20% range of motion for all lumbar tests and <10% before pain during range of motion. She also showed me on computer where she put in how it affected my daily life. Example:(bathing, dressing, sitting, walking, sex life etc). She also noted the numbness from the inguinal surgery(5/2/07). She stated that she made no recommendations on what % I would receive. She said that was done at the ratings board.…
