diabetes I'm The New Guy!
Just to let you know, I'm really not sure how to state what I am thinking. I will do my best. At my last annual physical at the VAMC, my NP asked if anything else was bothering me. I talked about some urology problems not connected to my SC Diabetes Type II. She made a consult for me. My appointment was with a PA as the Urologist only comes to our VAMC once a month and this PA does a pre-screening for him. We met Jan 3, and discussed my problem. After a good q&a session, and I assumed we were done, he asked an unusual question. He asked "how my soul was". He was not a veteran, but had empathy for what any vet who had been in a war area had gone through. I had to t…

ptsd Stone V. Nicholson
Dear fellow Veterans & Friends There was a case in the Fed Cir Stone v. Nicholson 2006-7069. There was a good decenting opnion from the court which shows how the court now split hairs just to deny a vets claim. If you have a PTSD claim you should read this decision. Here the VA agreed the vet was in a combat zone, The VA psychitrist documented the stressers. Yet because the vet recived no wounds the VA position was he could not prove he was shot at in a combat zone. I would like other vets take on this. Thanks Terry Higgins

ptsd C&p Today-went Well
Hello, Went to C&P today with my husband. We arrived at the Temple, Texas VAMC and the doctor came and got my husband and I from the waiting room. The exam began exactly on time and lasted approximately 45 to 50 minutes. We found the doctor to be very personable and attentive to the problems my husband has been experiencing. He was receptive to the things I could contribute and did offer suggestions for possible solutions to some problems. We found him to be informative and in general a very caring man. He did say that he read the C-file over before the appointment and in fact he did seem to understand some history about my husbands case. We both felt the ex…

Refusing Conventional Treatment
During the C&P exam yesterday a question of conventinal treatment has come up. The exam doctor asked my husband about his DMII and his symptoms and testing levels. My husband stated that his sugar levels were high a fluxuated greatly. He also told the C&P that his PCP wanted to start him on insulin this past year. My husband said no because we were going through financial difficulties and we didn't know where we would be living and he didn't want to start a new therapy and then have to stop it, especially something like insulin. The doctor C&P doc stated that there is a lot of new thought about DMII and insulin and that there was also some new treatment…

Form To Accompany Nexus Letter
Hi, I was recently denied on my first P & C exam. I have a couple of questions and I hope somebody might be able to help. The examiner was a PA from Primary care and not a MD or a specialist from Infectious Diseases, does this have any credibility for the VA or me? The MD that signed off electronically, 4 minutes later, was from Occupational Medicine. Never heard of him or ever saw him. I was 9 months waiting for my C file from St. Louis, the PA had it, but I didn't. I finally received it and there is earlier medical notes that may be relavent. I filed a NOD about 6 weeks ago but haven't heard back yet. I am represented by the DAV, how well??, I'm not s…

tdiu Good News And Bad News Today
At the end of November I had sent in a request for the temporary 100% rating for the 3 month convo period following my back surgery along with a claim for depression. I had been seen in service for the depression and have just started treatment with the local VA clinic. I have been working on getting the mental health records from my old post as they are not included in my SMR's. There are only two pages in my SMR's that mention depression and they show where I was referred to mental health but nothing from my time being seen for it. Fort Rucker is being very slow in getting me the records even though they told me over the phone they found them. Time was gettin…
