tdiu Appeals Management Center
I received two letters recently. One was the same generic letter from the RO Columbia SC saying they had received my claim for benefits. This was from my approval for GERD and Right Knee for payment from my appeal. The other was from The AMC saying they are developing my Remand for other increases and TDIU. This is my third Remand for this six year old claim. My question is, has anyone elses Remand been developed by the AMC? I thought all claims Remanded from the BVA went back to the RO and the AMC was just a holding area? WAYNE (LLEWELLYN)

New So Or No
If a person does not have an SO that works with them on a claim, is it advisable to chnge SO´s and how would it be done. I called mySO for the first time yesterday and he would not answer specific YES/NO questions regarding the denial. What to do in a case like this... He was shocked that I even called it seemed. He indicated there were documents used as Evidence by the VA that they could not put their hands on. Things like the last SOC or a 4138 I supposedlly finds saying I would not follow up this claim. I want to say what, who, where, when and why would I do that? Advise please. Joseph

ptsd Op Ed Piece About Ptsd In New York Times 3-1-06
Op-Ed Contributor For Some, the War Won't End By SALLY SATEL Published: March 1, 2006 Washington ACCORDING to a report from its inspector general, the Department of Veterans Affairs is now paying compensation for post-traumatic stress disorder to nearly twice as many veterans as it did just six years ago, at an annual cost of $4.3 billion. What's more surprising is that the flood of recent applicants does not, for the most part, consist of young soldiers just returned from Iraq and Afghanistan. Rather they are Vietnam veterans in their 50's and 60's who claim to be psychologically crippled now by their service of decades ago. This leads to an obvious quest…

Got Claim Update- Decision Made
My I-9 generated a lot of attention in February-what I mean is movement to DRO then to appeals team and then to adjudication- Then, via correspondence to and from the VARO it seems that they have properly identified and acknowledged all my claims-(except the one that they should have sent to counsel 3 years ago) I was told that my SMC CUE claim was in some sort of 'immediate' progress-it has not been denied yet and was told they were working on this specific claim as of a few weeks ago. It showed up as with an adjudicator -as an 'accrued benefit' claim on the COVERS screen two weeks ago. Today they tell me a decision has been made and that 'it' went from adjudic…

Mismanaged Medications
Since the VA has so horribly mismanaged my pain medications going from morphine to percocet to methodone I wonder if I have a section 1151. I told them morphine left unable to drive or leave the house so they changed to methodone which has the same effect. No pain managment doctor in private practice would prescribe methodone for my problem.

Letter To Congress On Problems With Va
Had to stop beating my head trying to word my appeal and thought I would drop a few lines to congress. I keep hearing "change the system to make it better." So I thought I would offer my two cents worth about change. (Was addressed to various member of congress and the committee) For well over 50 years now the American Public has heard the phrases most often used by the Veterans Affairs “Take better care” “speed claims processing while decreasing errors”. However, here we are now in the year 2006 and not only has the VA failed to produce, they have gotten worse. Yes it is time that we change the system. However, the focus needs to shift from the veterans …

Continued Appeals Process
I am in the process of tearing apart the SOC that I received on my case and submitting my VA 9. However, it is a personal goal in my life to come face to face with the idiots they call DRO's in Montgomery VARO. Therefore, I am willing to add the additional time to my appeal to make this happen but I do have a couple of questions: During the DRO hearing is it possible to receive an on the spot approval of the disabilities you are appealing? Is it possible that after the hearing there will be maybe partial grants of appealed items? If no changes are made after the DRO hearing will I receive a SSOC? Ricky

Claims Search At Bva And/or Cova
I'm beginng to think that the person who inputs the Claims Decisions for the BVA and/or COVA claims research do their best to hide those claims that Veteran's have won. I inputed the word "Reconsideration" and I stop looking after viewing thirty claims, all were dismissed due to jurisdiction issues, meaning they took more than 120 days to appeal the prior decision. It's difficult for me to do this type of research, to find cases that may have something in them helpful to my claim, my powers of concentration are totaly shot to hell and a handbasket. My mind feels like it's in a vise and someone is slowly tightening it. The presure can get so bad sometimes, all I can …

ptsd C&p Examination
I have been helping a vet with his claim. He had his C&P Eximanitation ( for PTSD ) 63 days ago. We did request and received a copy of same about 30 days ago. It seems to be strong in his favor, but as we all know " you never know " what the decision is until you have it in writing. The vet is in real bad shape, physicaly, emotionaly, and financialy. Iam doing my best to keep him from going over the deep end with words of encouragement, but feel like he is losing it. Can any body advise if there is a " NORMAL " time period after the C&P exam, that one can expect a determination( decision ) letter/award. Is there any way to push the decision process, being tha…
