tpetrijr
Hello everyone. I am a combat vet and have recently went for my C&P exam for PTSD. I am curious as to what you all think these results may mean. Axis I : Chronic Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Axis II : None Axis III : None Axis IV : Psychosocial Stressors: Social Problems Axis V : GAF Score is 48, reflecting the impact of posttraumatic stress disorder on his social and marital functioning Any insight would be appreciated. HadIt.com Elder LarryJ Posted June 4, 2009 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted June 4, 2009 Well, from what you have indicated (and please bear in mind that PTSD is not one of the things that I know much about as far as how the VA rates it, percentage wise), it would appear that you, with your DSM and GAF, have a "shoe-in" for a PTSD rating. What % it will be, as I said, I have no idea. I know that I received 70% with my GAF score of 45, but, of course, the GAF score was not the ONLY thing that got me the 70%, just one of the things. Are you working? If not, have you filed for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)?
tpetrijr
No, I am not working right now. I have some neurological issues related to TBI also.
HadIt.com Elder Pete53 Posted June 4, 2009 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted June 4, 2009 Than ks for your Service. All indications say you should get service connected at 100% either by TDIU or possibly schedular. I suspect 70% with TDIU. If you have not applied for Social Security you should do so and fill out the TDIU form and ask that it be considered with your original claim. Good Luck
purple
Is this all that your C&P exam said? Too many ppl hinge everything on a GAF score. As I've said before, that score is a snapshot in time. It's how you were functioning when that doc saw you that day, that hour. Do you have a series of GAF scores that are similar? Or a series of appts with therapists that show the problems surrounding your PTSD symptoms? This would be most helpful evidence to submit for your claim.
