  1. Claims Update:Today I found out that; "VA granted "Me" partial claim rating of 60%" while some claims are deferred for C&P Exams. IMO...I should have received those exams in early 2011.

So my claim goes back to Gathering Evidence. "I'm okay with that"

However, VA closed some claims by awarding partial rating while they received future C&P Exams.

NLT next week, I should receive two letters; 1) C&P exam/worksheet on 4-5 claims that were deferred. And 2nd letter; explaining which claims were awarded, denial or deferred.

Good news...60% awarded effective 1 Nov; first disability check on 1 Dec.

  2. Am I reading this correctly that my 19 year old son is entitled to four year Scholarship to attend college in NC. Yes, I'm a resident and entered Army from NC.

    Currently I'm 60% service connected.

you must have done your home work and presented a well grounded case. also your meds copays are retro too. be sure to call the pharmacy as tell them your

    60%..

Thanks..........I did put in a lot of work to document all injuries with two to three civilian orthopedic doctors. Even though I had SMR; I also wanted to show medical assessments separate from my medical records.

I'm very thankful for 60%; can't wait to receive the envelope to see which claims I should appeal.

  4. Rover, I was a career 82nd “All American” Trooper from the late 60’s, 70’s, 80’s & 90’s. Thanks for the encouragement and enjoy your success!

After reading your post; you was a die-hard Airborne Trooper. After 12 yrs of Fort Bragg Airborne duty; I departed in 1995 and never return. Airborne life has taken a toll on all of us. I've been in Germany since 1995; retired in 2003 then started working civil service in Germany. I'm looking forward to returning to Ft. Bragg in 2013 or 2014 as a civilian employee. Jumpmaster, "where are you living?"

Oh, BTW...I also participated in Urgent Fury while servicing in 2/508th.

  5. Rover Congrats!

I’ve watched your posts since October 29th and still waiting for my AB8 letter to post.

After 26 months of sitting in the Gathering Evidence Phase for claims filed August 2010.

On October 29, 2012 an email from Houston VARO arrived stating. Your claim is currently in the final stages of processing. A decision was made on October 22, 2012 and your claim is now waiting the final review in Pending Decision Approval.

Papa knows very well about the Houston backlog. Enjoy the victory and holidays with your family. I’m still hanging tough and do not expect notification progress until 2013.

God Bless You—Happy 82nd “All American” Division Paratrooper! Thank You For Serving!

Jumpmaster........Hopefully, your letter will be posted very soon. Oh, BTW...I've served in 2/508th (1st Bde) & 313th CEWI BN during the Eighties.

  6. Today I received and reviewed my Benefits Verification Letter; received a combined evaluation of 60%. biggrin.png This is my initial claim so I'm looking forward to seeing which disabilities that were awarded and percentage.

I'm assuming that I will receive retro pay from Dec 2010; date of initiation of claim.

  7. Rover, get on E Benefits and check in the letter section and see if your payment has changed!! This is how I was able to find out before getting the award letter. If you are getting a compensation check and you see a higher amount then just look at the rate table and see what you got as percentage.

    Good luck!

    Thank you for your service!!

Based on your advice; I've checked eBenefits..............My award letter was posted today. "I'm a happy Paratrooper"biggrin.pngbiggrin.pngbiggrin.png

On average; "What is the average amount of days should I see closure?"

  9. Well, just about at the point where I was about to let go and fall into another one of my deep depressions and have another manic episode or so it would've seemed, I went online and signed onto ePeggy and, fully expecting to see the same thing I've seen for almost two years ("gathering evidence", a.k.a. "gathering dust") I saw something completely different: the status was "Preparation For Decision" and in my letter generator the letter available for me to print out and prove to people how much disability percentage and payment I receive monthly was not available online. This has peaked my curiosity quite a bit. Along with reading all of yall's posts about your similar situations paired with some expected guidance my local VA rep advised me on recently this all seems to be coming together rather appropritely. Quite odd though being as the VA has never really given me anything but a bottle full of pills that make me high as a kite and years worth of empty promises. Please, brothers and sisters in arms, I would love love love yall's input. Anxiously awaiting! God Bless!!!

    What is ePeggy????

  11. Next Steps:

Your claim is currently located in our "Rating" phase. We will propose a decision on your claim when all outstanding requirements are satisfied.

Several factors will determine the duration of the "Decision" phase, including:

    • type of claim filed
    • number of disabilities you claim
    • complexity of your disability(ies), and
    • availability of evidence needed to decide your claim.
