Well after 14 rough months I got service connected for ptsd and get to keep my old rating for asthma. 70% PTSD and 30% asthma for a total of 80%. I am still in shock and it still feels unreal to me. If you have seen my story on the PTSD claim section then you know what this means for others in my position. I hope that others like me read it and find hope for their claims. hadit.com has been very good to me and IDK what I would do without the amazing people on here. I'd like to thank my wife, Susan from vetwow, USMCGirl, John, Carlie, my social worker, lady at VA that helped me file when my old VSO laughed at me, and everyone else that chimed in. This really is the best website for veterans and I hope it continues that way. Again, thank you so so so much.

I finally got through to the 800# and they said my back pay is being processed and should be here by the end of next week and that Dec 1st I'll start receiving the 80% + spouse. Still feels unreal to me.
-
Yeah I got the letter from DAV so I called my social worker at the VA and she said it is in their systems so I don't have to worry now.
You're right John. I never thought that my case would be approved the first time. I expected a denial.
Thank you everyone that has helped me on here. You guys and gals have been a big emotional support. Special thanks to USMCGirl for allowing me to share things with you. I hope for the best in your claim and for everyone else that is fighting for what is they deserve.

I been thinking a lot about my claim and I hope that getting my doctor to write me a letter to WPAFB saying I can work doesn't hurt my chances of getting SCed. Looking back I feel stupid for getting the letter yet I know at the time and still am desperate to get out of this hole. Having the financial burden lifted would be helpful. Like I tell my social worker all I want to do is to get back to work and be happy. Right now my weekly appointments are just keeping me in touch with reality and that I accept that something happened to me. I'm hoping when my son is born it'll change me and I'll get on the path to recovery.

So I talked to my social worker at the VA about my claim. She thinks they might go back to when I first started receiving comp for asthma for my retro pay. Anyone ever heard of them dating your retro pay back to when you started getting paid for a misdiagnoses?
-
when I had my C&P the doc said that depression was incorrectly diagnosed by the military and inital claim and that PTSD was infact the main diagnosis with a service connection directly related to the military and the depression was stemmed from that. I would probaby guess that your C&P went along the same lines after they got the whole story.
Is that a good thing???

Here is the exact reasons for my denial
I hope for the best for you and someday the VA does right by you. Its never an easy road for our type of claim. Get a VA lawyer, continue treatment, and hold onto hope. You'll always be in God's thoughts and I'll pray for you.
-
i hope you do as well. SSA is still waiting on the VA to submit my records. You are still waiting on a copy of your C&P?? OMG! how long has it been?
Thank you. I asked about the copy I requested but the lady said they're going to process it after they have sent out the decision. I'm really hoping that a police report of robbery in my barracks room, getting my congressman involved. and that all the medical evidence from in service they used to get me SCed for asthma will be enough. I don't see how it wouldn't be enough since they determined I don't have asthma and that it is actually ptsd. So I would assume the medical records from in service that were used to get me SCed for asthma would also be used to get me SCed for ptsd. Anyone have any thoughts on this????
-
So after I posted I decided to call the 800#. My claim moved onto the next stage on 11-8-2011. So now I am freaking out because its been 3 business days today and they are still reviewing my claim for accuracy. The lady checked to see if there were any letters in the system and there isn't. So she couldn't tell me ifit was approved or denied. As soon as she told me it is being finalized I got instant cotton mouth. Is it a good or bad sign that it has been 3 business days and they're still working on finalizing it??????????

@ 11 - the letter that I got a few weeks ago from the VA adding issues to my claim with the VA saying that they needed more "evidence" for these issues that they added that I didn't claim finally appeared in Eben. The DAV sent the form in listing my entire medical record as "evidence" and said to settle my claim with in 30 days that they had all my "evidence" and we would not be submitting anything further.
That is good. I should be getting my 60 day update from my congressman later this month I think. Still waiting on a copy of my PTSD C&P. Lady at PTSD clinic helped me file a reconsideration with SSDI. They are suppose to call my social worker so she can tell them that I def fit the criteria for SSDI. I hope you get SCed.

I'd push for IU.

Of course you do. The difference between 70% and 100%. Probably about $1450 a month for a single vet.

Very nice :)

Do you get retro pay from 70% to TDIU?

Did you ever hear from China?? I live in NW China now....I have contacts around the country via social networks and friends in over a dozen schools.
Let me know if I can help expedite something....
I can also help you get oriented about what you are getting into...
It is getting expensive here, but still cheaper than the US...
I have sat out 7 of my nine years of appeals here...
Good luck!
I did get a call, but I had to decline as we found out we are having a baby in early December. Wife and family weren't on board with the idea either.

E benefits is totally worthless. My claim has been in notification for 1 week evidenced by 3 calls received from the regional office and 3 calls to the 800# to verify everyone is on the same page.
It is up to each regional office to update the site. If they don't, which is currently happening, don't rely upon the site.
I was advised they are experiencing issues with the site, and they may not stay with this current version as it is only a pilot.'
If so, go back to the other asap. That one had a lot of features that worked.
My claim was with the rating board for over 1 year. They are seen in the order that they are received. In other words, there is an extreme back log. Those that are getting claims decided now had there claims put in with a year or so.
PLEASE BE PATIENT. I know its frustrating. I can't even see the status of mine even though its in the notification stage.
That must really be irritating. My mood right now is F the RO. I mean seriously. Why is it a veteran can tell them over and over that they never got a C&P and then four months later be sent back to development to get the C&P and then have to wait in line all over again and the RO not get in trouble over it? I hate how government employees take advantage of government jobs and no one seems to care that they are totally slow at their job. Being a 11C we had a saying. "Slow is accurate and accurate is fast. The RO's seems to be, "Slower, SLOWER, messing up veteran's claim in 3..2..1.., forget about it."

Chronic Kidney Stones, Loss of Testicles, Tinnitus, and SMC for loss creative organ. 60% total.
0% - Chronic Epididymitis - orchitis
0% - Inguinal nerve damage
0% - Inguinal Scarring
0% - Scrotum Scarring
I have been going to mental health for nearly a year now for chronic pain related issues. After several sessions I was told that I have PTSD and depression from in-service stressors. I have a current GAF score of 60. More recently I have re-injured a back injury that was denied from original my claim back in 2002. I have two slipped vertebrae (spondylolisthesis) and a herniated disk.
I filed for chronic adjustment disorder and I filed for re-consideration of my original back injury that was denied. I have been on continuous narcotics and nerve pain meds through the VA for a year now. I have not had any C&P exams scheduled yet but I would like to know any information I should know beforehand. thank you in advance....
I'd file asap then make an appointment to get officially diagnosed. <<< For me it was some test with a social worker then test with the doctor that gives you pills.
-
And you are rated att 30%???? Is that for PTSD
30% for asthma. For personal reasons I did not report somethings while in service so they made an incorrect diagnoses of asthma.
-
I finally got a copy of c&p and have a GAF of 58. What does that mean? Does that effect rating? Thanks
Not really sure, but mine is always around 45-50 and I'm told that is severe.
-
Just checked ebenefits and my claim isn't available........ Stupid 800# is eleven minutes to speak with someone that probably will just shake a magic 8-ball and give me it;s answer....
-
Send them a box of dog shit. But really you should get your VSO to find out what the RO has already. VA/RO/VSO "What we have here is a failure to communicate."
-
i called and checked eben yesterday for my claim that they got december 2010.... it was in decision phase since 8/22 of this year and yesterday it got sent back to developement phase. WHAT THE F************!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am freaking out.
Same happen to me, but the first time I didn't get a C&P. This time I did. It sucks having your claim sent back a step; however, its better than a denial letter. I think in the long run you'll get SC'ed. I don't see them sending your claim back if they planned to deny SC it.

lol I'm still nesting. We went to her parents and gave them the good news. They think we should use their friend's Ford discount. Not sure how much it is but I think a new car would just cause more anxiety for me.
