  1. I just checked ebenefits and it's back to gathering evidence and says that decision has been sent. I checked the benefit summary letter and it says his service-connected evaluation is 100% and getting $3356.9 a month. Also says You are considered to be totally and permanently disabled due to your service-connected disabilities: yes
  2. Thanks. Should know something soon since it's in preparation for notification. Already getting 10% for the IHD, 20% for diabetes. Put it in for kidney disease secondary to diabetes, Peripheral vascular disease, Peripheral neuropathy. and tinnitus.
  3. I've attached the C&P results and would like to get some opinions on it. Thanks for any help. c-p.txt
  4. Thanks. The last time he had a stress test was about 3 years ago. A few months later he had a heart attack and a stroke. He did have an echo-cardiogram done a few weeks ago and his ejection fraction is 60%. Here is what was put. b. [X] Interview-based METs test Date of interview-based METs test: 1/8/2015 Symptoms during activity: The METs level checked below reflects the lowest activity level at which the Veteran reports any of the following symptoms (check all symptoms that the Veteran reports at the indicated METs level of activity): [X] Dyspnea [X] Fatigue Results: METs level on most recent interview-based METs test: [X] (>3-5 METs) This METs level has been found to be consistent with activities such as light yard work (weeding), mowing lawn (power mower), brisk walking (4 mph)
  5. My father had a C&P exam for a claim to get some secondary condtions to Diabetes and PVD secondary to heart disease. The doctor wrote that his METs are 3-5 on an interview-based METs test. Since 2010 he's been getting 10% for the heart disease. He didn't file a claim for a rating increase on the heart disease. It says this. d. Is the METs level limitation due solely to the heart condition(s)? [ ] Yes [X] No If no, estimate the percentage of the METs level limitation that is due solely to the heart condition(s): [X] The limitation in METs level is due to multiple factors; it is not possible to accurately estimate this percentage e. In addition to the heart condition(s), does the Veteran have other non-cardiac medical conditions (such as musculoskeletal or pulmonary conditions) limiting the METs level? [X] Yes [ ] No Other medical condition #1: COPD Effect on METs level: unknown Should he file an increase after his claim is finished?. His claim is in preparation for decision. Thanks for any help.
  6. Thanks. He has an appointment with his doctor in August and after that he's going to file the claims.
  7. My father filed a NOD back in September 2013 for stroke secondary to IHD. He's still waiting for any information on the appeal. He's got several other conditions that he's wanting to file claims for. Does anybody know if Chronic renal impairment is secondary to diabetes type II? His doctor put that in his records in May. He's also been diagnosed with PVD and he went to his podiatrist and on the notes it says that vascular status is barely palpable. He's worried that if he files any more claims it would slow down the appeal. What's the best thing to do? Thanks.
  8. His VSO said that the VA is still processing his appeal. He's going to keep at it. Thanks.
  9. Does anyone know how long on average it takes to get the SOC from VA. My father filed his NOD back in September and has not received anything about his appeal. My father is going to talk to his VSO tomorrow. I've printed out form 9 APPEAL TO BOARD OF VETERANS' APPEALS and my father is taking it to his VSO. My father is just about to give up on the whole thing. Thanks for any help about this.
  10. We got a letter today that says that his claim for bilateral vision loss is inextricably intertwined with his appeal for stroke secondary to ischemic heart disease. It goes on to say that since these two issues are intertwined his claim for bilateral vision loss will be addressed with his appeal. He put in the appeal back in September 2013 and we were told in January that we would be getting something for him to sign and send back. This thing is just so frustrating. My father called his VSO in March and was told that it takes several months to get the forms to sign. It's now been 7 months since he filed his NOD. He's going to talk to his VSO on Tuesday to see if he has any information.
  11. We got a letter today that says that his claim for bilateral vision loss is inextricably intertwined with his appeal for stroke secondary to ischemic heart disease. It goes on to say that since these two issues are intertwined his claim for bilateral vision loss will be addressed with his appeal. He put in the appeal back in September 2013 and we were told that we would be getting something for him to sign and send back. We were told that back in January but still haven't received anything about the appeal.
  12. My father filed a claim 7 months ago. It's been to the Preparation For Decision stage twice before going back to under review. Now ebenifits is saying Open Claims information is not available at this time. There is nothing that shows he has any open claims. The only thing I see for the claim is the area for unsolicited items it says VA 21-526EZ, Fully Developed Claim (Compensation) received back in September. Does anybody know what that means. Thanks.
  13. He was rated for the DMII in 2009 and CAD at the end of 2010. He put in a claim for a stroke he had in April 2012 being associated with CAD and was denied. Denial reason: The evidence does not show that your condition resulted from, or was aggravated by, a service-connected disability. The explanation was The VA examiner gave the opinion that it was less likely than not that your claimed stroke is secondary to CAD condition or related to your military service. He got 3 months of 100% for a heart attack he had in April 2012. He's appealing that decision. He had stents put in 1994, a Carotid endarterectomy done in 2003 and a Aortic Aneurysm repaired in 2005. Then he had a heart attack in April 2012 and had some stents put in and then suffered a stroke. In January of 2013 he had another stroke. Lost the vision in his left eye in July 2012.
  14. The VA doctor that examines his eyes said that he should put in for it from his heart conditions. The doctor's diagnosis is that he has no retinopathy from Diabetes mellitus. Here is what the C&P examiner put down. MEDICAL OPINION AND RATIONALE: VETERAN'S VISION LOSS IS AT LEAST AS LIKELY AS NOT PROXIMATELY DUE TO OR RESULT OF ISCHEMIC HEART DISEASE. VETERAN'S CENTRAL ARTERY OCCLUSION LEFT EYE AND CVA WITH RESULTING VISION LOSS IS A RESULT OF RETINAL AND BRAIN ISCHEMIA WHICH ARE AT LEAST AS LIKELY AS NOT PROXIMATELY DUE TO OR RESULT OF ISCHEMIC HEART DISEASE.
  15. Already have a printout of it from eBenefits showing they received it. Thanks for the help
  16. My father filed a Notice of Disagreement on September 4th. 2013. We checked ebenefits but it said that he didn't have an appeal. He called the DAV guy a month ago and he said that we should hear something soon. My father called the VA 2 weeks ago and they said they never received it and it's now too late to appeal but on the ebenefits website it shows that they received it on September 17th. Does anybody know how to proceed? Thanks
  17. His PCP has him diagnosed with Hypertension, Essential and Hypertension NOS And his records say he has had past history of Hypertension, Essential. After his current claim is finished he's going to put it a claim for the AA.
  18. My father filed for vision loss secondary to ischemic heart disease. He has 1 eye that has light perception only. He's getting 20% for DIabetes He's getting 10% for CAD Thanks
  19. My father had a Aortic aneurysm repaired in 2005. I was reading the Schedule for rating disabiliies and it says A rating of 100 percent shall be assigned as of the date of admission for surgical correction. Six months following discharge, the appropriate disability rating shall be determined by mandatory VA examination. He never got any compensation for the surgery. He called the VA and they said that he can put in a claim as far back as he wants. My question is Aortic aneurysm service connected? Does it matter? Thanks.
  20. My father had a C&P exam in December and I got it from myhealthevet, My father had 2 C&P exams in 2012 that don't show up on there. He's got a box of a lot of his records from the VA when he got them in Jan 2013 but we haven't seen them in those records. We've seen things like progress notes, radiology, medical package information, vitals, consult requests, discharge summaries. Do you have to request them separately from his other records? Thanks for any help.
