  1. Whether you should file or not requires more information.

Was your dermatology procedure performed while you were in the military?.... It was performed on active duty

Did you file a claim for the dermatology scars in 2007? .. no i gave the rep my record and didn't even think about the head scars at the time. My focus was depression and back

Any rating would be determined by the exact location of the scars, size of scars, type of scars, are the scars disfiguring, etc. I have some hair loss due to the scars

Provide as much info as possible so Hadit members can help you.

  2. Have New Year to you all!

    I'm 70% connected ( 50 for PTSD, 10/10 leg radiculopothy and 10 for DDD)

I have a GW exam and C&P for SA Scars and sinus as part of my claim next month. I was told it will be a three plus hour event.

First things first, I have Gastroenteritis well document throughout my active duty days BUT not rated as part of my disability. I have copies of all my AD treatment records that should prove this diagnosis. I even continued to be seen for GI issues at the VA and had a colonoscopy done. QUESTION......Should i mention the GI stuff during the GW exam? Should I also mention the chronic sinus/Upper respiratory issues I dealt with during and well after the Gulf War? I only have three documented sinusitis diagnosis and numerous URI/Pharyngitis. some of the medical notes apparently never made it into my record.

Secondly, since I wasn't awarded Gastro and sinusitis for a disability, should I start a claim? My DAV guy said I might have been "low balled" during the decision in 2006 and "things have changed since then".

I'm in for the long fight.. wherever that may take me. any feedback will be appreciated..

  3. Thanks for the feedback. I am still being treated on and off as required but hasn't resolved. I actually had a colonoscopy at the VA about two years ago in relation to the GI. Looking back, I wasn't Dx'ed with GERD, just simply Gatroenteritis.

I wasn't Unemployed when i was given my rating in 2006.

After speaking with the DAV rep, he actually recommended that i also pursue my sinusitis, URI and Pharyngitis since it they were chronic during AD, documented and possibly Guld War related.

  4. Hi and Happy New Year!

Retired in 2006 and was awarded 60 percent in 2007. I am now 70 percent after being bumped up 10 percent for radicuopathy last month. I was looking at my active duty medical record and it occured to me that I was seen many times and diagnosed with Gastroenteritis. it obviously wasnt reviewed during my initial claim.

Fast forward to retirement, i was seen several times at the VA for the gastro and even had a colonoscopy as a precaution.

so my question is.. can i take all those treatment records from my AD days and file for gastroenteritis as presumptive for Gulf War ( also served in Iraq) OR even just file a claim?

    thanks....

  5. Please be very very careful in any statements you send to VA.

NEVER, EVER SAY YOU ARE OK. Never say there are times when it was under control, when it wasn't so bad, when medications weren't necessary. Any of these type statements, VA will definitely use to try and lowball or deny you. They have a habit of ignoring pages and pages of medical history and pointing out one single sentence where the veteran or spouse said he was "ok".

Please review the rating schedule for this issues you are filing for.

I agree. i did a disservice to myself back in 2006 by saying i was ok

  6. First time post for me. I am working in my claim and adding the following:

    increase for MDD AND DDD

NEW: SLEEP APNEA SECONDARY TO MDD

    RADICULOPATHY SECOND TO DDD

I feel compelled to write a statement for myself and my wife will add her statement , as well.

My question is, should I write one statement to include my MDD and DDD? They both seem to go hand in hand for me. equal amount of sick days because of both and documentation from the VA since my retirement in 06.

This is my first request for an increase and also wanted to add the SA ( even though i want dx'ed with that during AD) and radiculopathy

anyway, any feedback will be appreciated.

    Thanks
