I'm service connect for MDD and I am currently virtually visiting the VA medical center, due to COVID. I was wondering if it is a good idea get more VA information added to my medical records before I apply for an increase? The VA doctor has already prescribed meds and they have no effect on my condition, I still have the same symptoms. My last award was in May 2020.

I was wondering if any of the vets out there can shed some light on a question I have about granted claims and denied claims (Fully Developed Claims). Does it seem as if your claim is moving fast under 90 days for completion, that you are or denied or granted the claim most of the time? Does it seem as if your claim was delayed during the Gathering of Evidence but then completion over 120 days, your claim was denied or granted? Share your experiences and thoughts. Does a speedy Gathering of Evidence phase (30 days or less) result in more grants or denials? Does a delayed Gathering of Evidence phase mean the VA is trying to find a way to deny a FDC?

Adding Dependents to your claim
1454th Solider replied to 1454th Solider's question in VA Disability Claims Research
Yes on previous claim that’s in appeal. -
Will the VA approve your application to add dependents the same day you are award 30% disability or more? (Or) will they approve it at the Preparation for decision phase of your claim?

VA Second Opinion?
1454th Solider replied to ronnieusmc0311's question in VA Disability Claims Research
They maybe deciding your claim through ACE (acceptable clinical evidence) due to COVID-19. Your phone examination was done by a VHA examiner for DBQ information and the VA contracted doctor is assisting in the DBQ but not service connection opinion, the rater may have already established that, but the VHA doctor's DBQ wasn't fully filled out or they didn't know how to rate it so they need a second opinion. The ACE process involves C&P clinicians completing Disability Benefit Questionnaires (DBQs) using the medical evidence currently in existence and a Veteran's claims file or medical records, supplemented by a telephone interview with the Veteran if necessary, instead of requiring some Veterans to be examined in-person. https://www.navao.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/DMA-Fact-Sheet-16-005-ACE-Process-12-16-16.pdf -
VA Second Opinion?
1454th Solider replied to ronnieusmc0311's question in VA Disability Claims Research
I am going through this right now, I had a mental health phone C&P with a VHA examiner which I thought went really well, now they sent me letter telling me another doctor from the QTC medical service is going review my evidence and fill out the VA disability questionnaire. The only way I can see them doing this is to develop to deny. They sent me the QTC examiners credentials and they don't even come close to my private psych doctors experience which my doctor fill out a DBQ also. I hope they are only doing this for rating purposes only and not being sneaky. I will let you know how it turns out. -
Letter from QTC medical
1454th Solider replied to 1454th Solider's question in VA Disability Claims Research
I agree, the letter says the QTC provider will review your VA medical evidence to complete the VA's disability benefits questionnaire. I don't know exactly what that means but we will see. -
Letter from QTC medical
1454th Solider replied to 1454th Solider's question in VA Disability Claims Research
I understand, It's just frustrating to think that if the first C&P was favorable they would do this to try and screw me. -
I just got a letter from the VA (QTC), stating a doctor (Psych doc) from the QTC medical service will review my claim file for VA disability benefits. I already had my C&P exam over the phone by another VA doctor. The letter says Do Not travel, so I don't have to attend another C&P but I was wondering has anyone seen this before and what does it mean?

Mental health medicine
1454th Solider replied to 1454th Solider's question in VA Disability Claims Research
Thanks for your quick responses guys. I was just concerned that the VA may suggest that since your current diagnosed condition is being treated, then you must cured or your rating should be lower. Thank you, I'm just new to the process and some people have told me it's to keep it to myself and don't give them a reason to deny. It's sad that some raters think your compensation is coming out of their pay check! -

Should you tell the C&P examiner, if asked, about any medication you have been prescribed for a mental health issue, if you are trying to get it service connected. Can that hurt your rating or worst?

We just added a notice for Request 1
1454th Solider posted a question in Veterans Compensation & Pension Exams
The date changed on my claim and it says "We just added a notice for Request 1. I already had my C&P exam, so what going on here. -
Why did the date change for the Request 1? It changed from March to April and the due date change also. I already had my C&P exam. It changed about two weeks after the exam.

Depression secondary to Tinnitus
1454th Solider replied to 1454th Solider's question in VA Disability Claims Research
Thanks for you reply, I was granted Tinnitus and denying bilateral hearing loss although my test proved hearing loss the doctor said it was not enough to even get a 0% rating. I’m stealing fighting for it. My psych doc has diagnosed me with depressive disorder and his rational/nexus states it’s triggered by my constant tinnitus. My tinnitus is so bad, I often have embarrassing panic attacks. -
I want to know if anyone has had success in winning depression claims secondary to Tinnitus? It has effected my life to point there is no relief unless I’m sleeping, my ears feel full all the time and I can’t concentrate on anything due to the alarms going off in my head.
