Rizing Sun
Hello everyone, first I'd like to say this is a very informative Forum. Big ups to the admin/webmasters. I'm currently 40% s/c with reconsideration pending..My question is about Gabapentin, I have been perscribed this med. by the VA for PAIN. Dosent seem to work for me. I have 3 screws holding together the left ankle, and a Rod-with screws in the right leg. Is there another similiar med. out there that I could ask my primary doc to perscribe for me.??? Any info. would be great!! Thanks
HadIt.com Elder LarryJ Posted July 11, 2007 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted July 11, 2007 Why don't you "google" the medication you are taking? Then you can do a search on MedLine.com. You'll find out a lot of information on the drug that you are taking......and some information on alternative drugs, most likely. "It is cold and we have no blankets. The little children are freezing to death. My people, some of them, have run away to the hills, and have no blankets, no food; no one knows where they are-perhaps freezing to death. I want to have time to look for my children and see how many of them I can find. Maybe I shall find them among the dead. Hear me, my chiefs! I am tired; my heart is sick and sad. From where the sun now stands, I will fight no more forever." Chief Joseph

Guest terrysturgis
Riz, I have been taking Gebapentin for a couple of years. I need it for the Perepherial Neuropathy I have and I take at night to help me sleep. The VA podiatrist prescribed Amitripilene and I could not wake up for half the next day. With the Gebaoentin I am able to get up in the mourning and function. Take care. Terry Sturgis
HadIt.com Elder Pete53 Posted July 11, 2007 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted July 11, 2007 I take Gabapentin with good results for pain and neuropathy. I don't know what I would do with out it. I also like it cause it does not use the liver to get rid of it. Veterans deserve real choice for their health care.
Rizing Sun
Terry & Pete Thanks for the information, I think maybe I need to talk with my doc about moving up the dosage. As of right now I'm only taking one-half of the dosage. And it dosen't seem to do anything but make me a little sleepy..I dont need sleep meds, Just something to slow down to pain at least 'Cause the pain, oh man the pain. I have a VA appointemnt today, not leaving there until doc Ups the medication, or perscribes another..
