Hearing Loss

Question

I just got the copy of my complete c-file and health records from the RO. In it was my request for hearing loss from 1983 it also had my one sentence denial letter. After reviewing my health records they appear to show that I infact did have some hearing loss start while I was in service but the statement "satisfactory for VA purposes" anyone ever heard of that? Also I am now having a very hard time hearing or should I say understanding even with my aids. I was wondering if I should take these records in and have my VA audiologist that I have now go over them and see what they say? I would really like to reopen this claim because I do believe that this really started while i was in service.

Thanks for all your replys, Stillhere

I got the results of my last hearing test today, I'm at 10% now and was wondering if this test will put me in line for an increase.

Left ear: 500 -35 , 1000 - 35, 2000 - 60, 3000 - 80, 4000- 90 Average 66

Right ear: 500 - 30, 1000 - 35, 2000 - 45, 3000 - 90, 4000 - 100 Average 67

Speech reconization of 88 in each ear.

Can someone who know's this stuff tell me what percentage I should be at.

Thanks, Sgt D

Using the VA's regs which drops the 500mHz readings, your pure tone averages remain the same, and give you a roman numeral III for the left and roman numeral III for the right. When you apply these to Table VII of 38 CFR 4.87, you get a rating of 0%....sorry.
