Question

I called SSA this morning and was told that I was approved on the 22nd of April and that I would receive my first monthly check in the third week of August and she told me the amount that I would be getting.

Would I get any back pay since disability month is January?

They have a 5 month waiting period, so you will not get retro like VA.

I got my SSD and am now 80% VA.

Congratulations on finding out. I still don't know, how did you get them to tell you?

I just called and asked the status of my claim and she pulled it up and told me that my claim was approved on April 22, then she said I would get my first monthly check in the third Wednesday of August and then she told me the amount that I would be getting. She was very nice about it all.

I quess I was denied, as they have not told me a thing. They say things likt, it takes 3-4 months to get everything done or just hang in there, or you should know in a couple of days, you should know in a month.

Today I was told to go to my SSA (local office) but my case is in quality review but if my local office wanted too they could give me the results. I am fairly sure I was denied. Otherwise I think they would have told me.

So I am going tomorrow, even this lady said I should have known by now.

Congrats again!

Well Ruby, according to conversation I had today my claim was approved on April 22nd but I still don't have it in writing. So, don't give up on it just yet until it's in black and white.

Ruby,

Try what I did.......I called them back and said; "I know you can't tell me the decision but maybe you could just tell me if I will be excited or sad when I finally get and open the decision letter".

The lady thought for a few seconds and said; "you will be happy on that day".

Worth at try..

luck
