HadIt.com Elder jbasser Posted August 13, 2008 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted August 13, 2008 (edited) Actually the answer is no. In order to have a spouse qualify she must file a SF-15 with the job application. This means the Veteran is not able to qualify for any government employment because of a service connected disability. If a Veteran is 100 ;percent P and T then it is a yes. The Vet has to let he spouse attach an award letter with the application and the Hr department at the VA will use OPM giudelines to decide. halos2
I found yes, "preference for a spouse of a living veteran based on the fact that the veteran, because of service-connected disability, has been unable to qualify for a Federal or D.C. Government job, or any other position along the lines of his usual occupation." #12 on Standard Form 15 Section 2108 of Title 5 USC (10 points for 10% disab or if PH) (or greater than) Remember you need Official statement dated within 12 months certifying your disability % and nature of s/c disability/disabilities ( looks like you are 20% but if were rated unemployable or t&p would need to present too) Law does not imit the number of times spouse can use this. Berta
https://www.opm.gov/veterans/html/vetguide.asp#2Why They have lengthy info here Rick- even if she cant get the Civil Service preference, she sure should apply-her qualifications might outweigh all other applicants.
