Still,

Fellow VN vet here. So sorry, this chain is quite long now. Are you also planning to claim Tinnitus? You are well qualified, and I can share with you how I did it. Very simple...Let me know.

Thanks Bob, I claimed tinitus this last time because I have had it for years and really never knew what it was called. I told audiologist over the years when giving me tests that sometimes I hear noises and raise my hand when nothing is there. No one ever put two and two together.

The denial said "there is no current medical evidence attributting any current tinnnitus to your military service" Appears they are denieing because my hearing loss has not been SC.

here is my situation on the hearing thing at the time of my discharge

i was in confinement getting 212 discharge and a large chunk of metal

from a lawnmower hit me in the back of the head while on detail. it was

a hell of a lick and all they did was take me and have it sewed up no x-rays

nothing. so my current diagnoses is concussion for hearing loss and i saw

somewhere they said construction work on c and p.

but the clincher is i had the hearing test done about same time as the

accident, and noticed ringing in my ears afterward. i did not know what this

was until around the year 2000 when i got to where i had to wear hearing aids.

now i asked for records from ft bragg about the accident and they said

they could not find them. so i am being screwed big time on this as i am

almost totally deaf now.they have screwed me on everything in the book.

one day i am going to get real mad.

Try asking the National Personnel Records Center for copies of your service records.

Carlie was merely trying to help. I got in a beef in other forums, and have even been kicked out of one of em. Some of the posters are retired or current rating specialists and offer good advice, even tho some of em tell you what you definately dont want to hear.

Even tho nobody wants to be told stuff they dont want to hear, I would definately rather hear negative stuff from one of these posters rather than on a denial decision!

I MUCH prefer someone telling me that they hate me and mean it, rather than someone tell me they love me and its a lie. I got a chance of fixing what it is my enemy is mad about, but I probably will never be able to fully trust the "so called friend" who claimed to love me, when they they dont.

Carlie is calling it like she sees it, and I respect her for that.

That being said, I suggest to anyone they hang in there for any VA bennies they feel entitled to and NEVER give up.

The VFW once sent me a letter and "dropped" representing me because they did not think my claim was valid. I am really glad I did not listen to them..I knew more about my situation than the VFW did, persisted, and at least won partial benefits. I was mad at VFW for a while, but now realize they had too many Vets making claims so to do justice to the others, they had to drop some Veterans as they were just too busy to take care of us all. I think they may have dropped every fourth claim or something like that.

Keep on keeping on..persistance often wins over skill, talent, and luck.

Well said bronco, well said

I got 10% tinnitus and 0% sc bilateral hearing with no medical records. I went on sick call for hearing in 1980. I had to leave my records with Division main hospital for assignment of a hearing profile. Bye Bye records. They were not seen by me again until 2005 when, after several requests to NARA, lo and behold they magically showed up in my mail box. VA still hasn't got a copy. Those records show I was granted a P3 profile for hearing. P4 would be considered 'legally deaf.' But, as noted, I had already won my award. That was because I was a 13E10 artilleryman. I had my DD214 and could prove that much. That was sufficient to get assignment of my rating.

Your problem is that you have to overcome that ETS test. Just focus on the factors in your specific service that inevitably cause hearing loss.

I don't know my numbers offhand to campare to yours, but in lay terms, my hearing level is the same as that provided by a hearing aid which is why they won't issue me one. Funny, they told me the same thing 10 years ago. In the meantime, my hearing got worse and hearing aids got better... oh well

You just have to load up your evidence side so much that the seperation test can be nothing but wrong. Like 'Sherlock Holmes' was given to 'say:' "Eliminate the impossible and whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." The 'impossible' in this case must be that your hearng came out of service as indicated.

Good luck with your case.
