oldman273
Hello I like a lot of other vets suffer from chornic pain. I am at the point to go live overseas in like Phillippines or some other warm place where a person can go to a Doctor and get meds. I have a Doc which I belive is a good man but it seems like all of them are afraid to treat some of us with SC pain issues. I have SC knees hips and lower back disc disease along with nueropathy in my left leg and feet. I was just wondering how many of the Vets here have ever left the US and lived over in a warm climate and if it helped them. I live in South but this winter I may become a snowbird and go down further south or overseas if things do not pick up. I hate to rant or whine but a few bad apples got to selling thier meds and now us people who I dare say would shoot someone over their meds suffer for others. Just my throw on it have a good day... Moderator pacmanx1 Posted March 13, 2009 Moderator Share Posted March 13, 2009 Sorry, Oldman but good luck and good bye, as you say you are not the only one who suffer from chronic pain. I have arthritis in my spine cervical and lumbar, fibromyalgia, incapacitating migraine headaches, and neuropathy in both my arms and both my legs. Over 6 years ago I was told by neurology I had to live with pain, either my headaches or my arthritis, fibromyalgia and neuropathy. I hate the winter, it's like I get so cold I can't get warm and I hate the summer even more. JMHO You can't run away from the pain. In the last year I was hospitalized because of meds. The first I got a new batch of meds. I been on for years but VA went cheap and got them from a new source and an inactive ingredient shut my system down, I thought I was dying. The other two was they wanted to try newly on the market meds. for my fibromyalgia and the same thing happened, back to the hospital I went. Do you really want to be a Ginny pig in a different country, hats off to you. Sorry Oldman there is no miracle pill/pills, and sorry for being negative but the US is still the Greatest place on earth to live. Pete992 My intentions are to help, my advice maybe wrong, be your own advocate and know what is in your C-File and the 38 CFR that governs your disabilities and conditions. Do your own homework. No one knows the veteran’s symptoms like the veteran. Never Give Up. I do not give my consent for anyone to view my personal VA records.
HadIt.com Elder Pete53 Posted March 13, 2009 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted March 13, 2009 Its a shame that many Docs are afraid to properly medicate pain. Veterans deserve real choice for their health care.
bbknor
I m there with you all in the pain clinic. Philly is a joke and the local satilites are not even better. I need my mind to do the work I do. Pain gets in the way and then the side affects of the meds. As my neurologist say, "nothing we can do, so you have to learn to live with it". They haven't even tried nerve blocks or anything else 4 weeks at PT and you are cured. What a laugh. VA hospital uses a lot of teaching colleages bet you they know how to solve the problems. ....And on the eighth day God created Infantry and Hell cried for mercy. oldman273
Hey you are right the US is the best place to live I am thinking more of the snowbird option as running from anything is not an option in my playbook but reloacting during the cold is open for me. I also wanted to put in there is from what I have read warm weather is good for artheritis and all other ils. I try to stay out of the pill popping arena as I do not have that problem yet. I do know may vets who use the illicit drugs but for me it is the true blessing not to have drank or used meds to abuse my body. I feel for those that are traped in that lifestyle. I unlike you do love the heat Sorry, Oldman but good luck and good bye, as you say you are not the only one who suffer from chronic pain.
